Hong Leong Industries Berhad, an investment holding company, engages in the manufacture and sale of consumer and industrial products primarily in Malaysia, Asia, Europe, and others. The Industrial Products segment manufacture and sale of fiber cement and concrete products. In addition, Hong Leong Industries Berhad is involved on the manufacture and sale of concrete roofing tiles; distribution of building materials; and property management activities. The company was formerly known as Fancy Tile Works Limited and changed its name to Hong Leong Industries Berhad in 1979. Hong Leong Industries Berhad was incorporated in 1964 and is based in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. Hong Leong Industries Berhad is a subsidiary of Hong Leong Company (Malaysia) Berhad.

Hong Leong Industries Berhad reported unaudited consolidated earnings results for the third quarter and nine months ended March 31, 2013. For the quarter, the company reported revenue of MYR 553,423,000 compared to revenue of MYR 559,418,000 for the same period a year ago. Operating profit was MYR 64,290,000 compared to MYR 52,087,000 last year. Profit before taxation was MYR 65,957,000 compared to MYR 49,666,000 last year. Profit was MYR 54,502,000 compared to MYR 43,037,000 last year. Profit attributable to owners of the company was MYR 44,892,000 or 14.56 sen per basic share compared to MYR 33,599,000 or 10.90 sen per basic share last year. The increase in higher profit before taxation due to mainly contributed by better operating margins, favorable US Dollar payables as a result of the strengthening of the Ringgit Malaysia against the USD, coupled with higher profit from associated companies. For the nine months, the company reported revenue of MYR 1,661,369,000 compared to revenue of MYR 1,588,077,000 for the same period a year ago. Operating profit was MYR 159,232,000 compared to MYR 149,099,000 last year. Profit before taxation (PBT) was MYR 159,472,000 compared to MYR 153,505,000 last year. Profit was MYR 129,396,000 compared to MYR 128,779,000 last year. Profit attributable to owners of the company was MYR 97,470,000 or 31.61 sen per basic share compared to MYR 102,993,000 or 33.40 sen per basic share last year. Net cash generated from operating activities was MYR 124,218,000 compared to MYR 115,642,000 last year. Purchase of property, plant & equipment was MYR 49,876,000 compared to MYR 19,527,000 last year. The higher PBT was mainly contributed by higher revenue, better operating margins and higher profit from associated companies. Net assets per share attributable to owners of the company were MYR 3.68 compared to MYR 3.51 per share last year.
Hong Leong Industries Berhad declared a second interim dividend of 16.0 sen per share less tax for the quarter ended March 31, 2013 of the financial year ending June 30, 2013 compared to 12.0 sen per share tax exempt paid a year ago. The dividend to be paid on June 7, 2013 to holders of ordinary shares whose names appear in the Record of Depositors at the close of business on May 17, 2013.
