Several Companies Reportedly Eyes Kesh King

Emami Limited (BSE:531162) and Marico Limited (BSE:531642) are holding talks to acquire Kesh King from SBS Biotech Limited. Other companies are also interested in the acquisition. Kesh King is seeking a valuation of over INR 20 billion, according to sources. Deloitte has been hired to handle the sale, said multiple sources directly familiar with the matter. "I agree with you that there is keen interest by the top-notch FMCG companies to acquire this brand but we would like to retain Kesh King brand with us and build hair care segment further with introduction of hair color and other SKUs in oil and shampoos," Sunil Mutreja, Executive Director, SBS Biotech, said in an email response to TOI. Times of India added that Deloitte declined to comment. Emami declined comment, while Marico officials were not reachable for comments.

Emami Limited Reports Unaudited Consolidated and Standalone Earnings Results for the Second Quarter and Six Months Ended September 30, 2014

Emami Limited reported unaudited consolidated and standalone earnings results for the second quarter and six months ended September 30, 2014. For the quarter, on consolidated basis, net sales /income from operations was INR 4,896.0 million compared to INR 4,067.4 million a year ago. Profit from operations before other income, finance costs and exceptional items was INR 1,042.3 million compared to INR 814.4 million a year ago. Profit from ordinary activities before tax was INR 1,177.8 million against INR 982.6 million a year ago. Net profit was INR 799.5 million or INR 3.52 per basic and diluted share before and after extraordinary items compared to net profit of INR 927.6 million or INR 4.09 per basic and diluted share before and after extraordinary items a year ago. For the six months, on consolidated basis, net sales /income from operations was INR 9,713.3 million compared to INR 7,903.9 million a year ago. Profit from operations before other income, finance costs and exceptional items was INR 1,748.2 million compared to INR 1,350.0 million a year ago. Profit from ordinary activities before tax was INR 2,098.9 million against INR 1,684.7 million a year ago. Net profit was INR 1,635.7 million or INR 6.20 per basic and diluted share before and after extraordinary items compared to net profit of INR 1,406.2 million or INR 6.20 per basic and diluted share before and after extraordinary items a year ago. For the quarter on standalone basis, net sales /income from operations was INR 4,410.0 million compared to INR 3,743.4 million a year ago. Profit from operations before other income, finance costs and exceptional items was INR 990.5 million compared to INR 764.8 million a year ago. Profit from ordinary activities before tax was INR 1,127.0 million against INR 938.8 million a year ago. Net profit was INR 891.2 million or INR 3.93 per basic and diluted share before and after extraordinary items compared to net profit of INR 759.3 million or INR 3.35 per basic and diluted share before and after extraordinary items a year ago. For the six months, on standalone basis, net sales /income from operations was INR 8,861.4 million compared to INR 7,448.9 million a year ago. Profit from operations before other income interest and exceptional items was INR 1,640.1 million compared to INR 1,350.6 million a year ago. Profit from ordinary activities before tax was INR 1,992.5 million against INR 1,692.5 million a year ago. Net profit was INR 1,548.8 million or INR 6.82 per basic and diluted share before and after extraordinary items compared to net profit of INR 1,419.5 million or INR 6.25 per basic and diluted share before and after extraordinary items a year ago.

Johnson & Johnson Is Reported To Sell Two Brands In India For INR 3 Billion

Johnson & Johnson (NYSE:JNJ) is close to selling two of its brands, Savlon antiseptic soap and liquids, and Shower to Shower talcum powder, in India for over INR 3 billion. J&J India's non-core divestment has attracted the attention of multiple suitors, sources who did not want to be named as the sale process is currently under way, told TOI. Wipro Consumer Care and Lighting Ltd. Wipro Consumer Care and Lighting Ltd., Emami Limited (BSE:531162) and Dabur India Ltd. (BSE:500096) are among the bidders who have looked at the deal. The transaction involves selling brand rights and technical know-how, sources said. When contacted by TOI, a J&J India spokesperson said J&J would not comment on speculation. Wipro declined to comment, while Emami could not be reached for immediate comments, reported TOI.
