Hovnanian Enterprises(R) Inc. announced that it is expanding into the Charleston, South Carolina market with plans to build K. Hovnanian's (R) Four Seasons at Lakes of Cane Bay in Summerville, South Carolina. This new community provides Hovnanian with a complementary presence to its Hilton Head operations in the Charleston market, which is the 32(nd) large housing market in the United States, based on 2013 new home starts. K. Hovnanian's(R) Four Seasons at Lakes of Cane Bay will be the newest neighborhood in Cane Bay Plantation and will feature an expansive lake system and waterfront properties. Cane Bay Plantation is a master planned community currently ranked the 19(th) best-selling community in the United States, and is located approximately 30 minutes from downtown Charleston, South Carolina. The new community will be a private gated community featuring over 800 energy efficient homes with countless amenities that will bring new excitement to the historic Summerville and Charleston area while retaining the beautiful heritage of Cane Bay Plantation. While K. Hovnanian's(R) Four Seasons popular active adult communities are sought out nationwide, this will be the Company's first active adult community in South Carolina.

Hovnanian Enterprises Inc. reported unaudited consolidated earnings results for the second quarter and six months ended April 30, 2014. For the quarter, the company reported loss before income taxes of $7,298,000, net loss of $7,902,000 or $0.05 loss per share on total revenues of $449,929,000 against loss before income taxes of $1,265,000, net income of $1,318,000 or $0.01 per share on total revenues of $422,998,000 for the same period a year ago. EBIT was $28,581,000 against $32,641,000 for the same period a year ago. EBITDA was $30,537,000 against $34,930,000 for the same period a year ago. Adjusted EBITDA was $32,214,000 against $37,121,000 for the same period a year ago. The company’s total revenues increased 24% sequentially from the first quarter of fiscal 2014. The revenue increase was driven by a 19% sequential increase in the company’s deliveries, as well as a 4% increase in average sales price. For the six months, the company reported loss before income taxes of $31,188,000, net loss of $32,425,000 or $0.22 loss per share on total revenues of $813,977,000 against loss before income taxes of $22,067,000, net loss of $9,990,000 or $0.07 loss per share on total revenues of $781,209,000 for the same period a year ago. For the year, the company continues to generate revenue growth, the company expects to be able to leverage its fixed SG&A expenses further and get this ratio back to a normalized level. Assuming no deterioration from current market conditions, the company expects to be profitable for the company’s full 2014 year. However, the company expects its profitability to be even more back-end weighted this year than it was during fiscal 2013.
