HTC Launches HTC One E8 and HTC Desire 616 in India

HTC launched a phone as well as an affordable mid-range device. The HTC One E8 will cost just under INR 35,000 while the HTC Desire 616 has been priced INR 16,900. The HTC One (E8) is a stylish lightweight device that reminds one of the HTC One. The phone comes with Motion Launch, HTC BoomSound and a 5MP front-facing and 13MP rear-facing camera. The 5-inch phone is powered by a top of the line 2.5 GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon 801 processor with 2GB of RAM and 16GB of onboard memory. It comes with a 600 mAh battery. The HTC Desire 616 dual sim also has a 5-inch screen, but is powered by a 1.4GHz octa-core processor with 1GB RAM and 4GB onboard storage. The phone has a 8MP rear camera and 2MP front camera.

HTC Not Interested In Buying Nokia India Plant

HTC Corporation (TSEC:2498) has said that it has no plans of buying the Chennai plant of Nokia India Pvt. Ltd. HTC will continue to invest "into potential businesses," but Nokia's plant is not part of HTC's plan, as of now. Speaking to the media, Chialin Chang, Chief Financial Officer, HTC, said that the company was not thinking along those lines.

HTC Corporation reported unaudited consolidated results for second quarter ended June 30, 2014. For the period, the company reported revenue was TWD 65.06 billion and net profit before tax was TWD 2.76 billion. Operating profit was TWD 2.43 billion, and net profit after tax was TWD 2.26 billion, or TWD 2.74 per share.
