Hudson Resources Announces White Mountain Calcium Feldspar Used Successfully In Owens Corning Furnace Test

Hudson Resources Inc. announced the completion of a successful trial test with Owens Corning of the White Mountain calcium feldspar anorthosite in a production E-Glass fiberglass furnace. Hudson and Owens Corning are working together to evaluate the application of the White Mountain anorthosite as a significant input material for the production of E-Glass fiberglass.

Hudson Resources Inc. Initiates Mining Application for its White Mountain Anorthosite Project in Greenland

Hudson Resources Inc. announced that it has filed the necessary documents with the Government of Greenland to initiate the application procedure to obtain a mining license for the White Mountain Anorthosite Project. Hudson has submitted the Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA), Socio-economic Impact Assessment (SIA) and technical report with the Mineral License and Safety Authority of Greenland (MLSA, formerly the Bureau of Minerals and Petroleum). The EIA and SIA reports were completed by Inuplan A/S of Greenland and Golder Associates Ltd. The technical report was completed by Hains Engineering Company Limited. The license application is for the construction and operation of a 285,000 tonne per year open pit mine, three stage crushing facility and port to provide feed material to E-glass fiberglass companies in Europe, North America and Asia. The project has a small environmental footprint and does not use any water or chemicals in the processing of the anorthosite. The project would generate approximately 50 full time jobs in Greenland. The White Mountain Anorthosite project is owned 100% by Hudson and is located on the company's Naajat Exploration Licence. The project is 80 km south-west of Kangerlussuaq, Greenland's international airport, and is adjacent to tidewater on the Sondrestrom fjord. The White Mountain anorthosite deposit is unique in that it has high concentrations of aluminum, silica and calcium with low sodium and no other contaminants.

Hudson Provides Update on Alumina Development Program

Hudson Resources Inc. announced updated results for its alumina (aluminum oxide) development program on the calcium feldspar anorthosite from its White Mountain Project in Greenland. The objective of this phase of testwork is to produce smelter grade alumina that meets both the chemical purity and physical specifications required by the aluminum industry. Hudson, under the supervision of Hudson's consulting metallurgist, John Goode, P. Eng., has now generated a number of alumina samples at SGS Lakefield's laboratory facilities in Ontario. The process involves three key stages, leaching the anorthosite in hydrochloric acid; sparging the leach solution with HCl gas to form aluminum chloride hexahydrate crystals; and calcining the ACH at high temperature to remove the water and chlorine to regenerate the HCl for recycle and to produce the final SGA. Critical to producing a marketable SGA product is ensuring that the physical properties match or exceed the required specifications from the aluminum industry, which requires two tonnes of alumina to produce one tonne of aluminum metal. Two key criteria are: the percent of alpha phase alumina typically needs to average less than 7.5%, and; the crystal surface area of the alumina particles needs to be between 60 and 80 square metres per gram. The White Mountain Anorthosite project is 100% owned by Hudson. The anorthosite has three potential high-value applications which are being investigated, as follows: new source of feedstock to the high end fiberglass (E-glass) industry; new source of alumina to supply aluminum smelters; new source of filler material. Fillers are extensively used by the plastics, paints and paper industries.
