Humana Inc., a health care company, offers insurance products and health and wellness services that incorporate an integrated approach to lifelong well-being. The company operates in three segments: Retail, Employer Group, and Health and Well-Being Services. Its Retail segment provides Medicare and commercial fully insured medical and specialty health insurance benefits, including dental, vision, and other supplemental health and financial protection products to individuals. The company’s Employer Group segment offers Medicare and commercial fully insured medical and specialty health insurance benefits, as well as administrative services to employer groups. Its Health and Well-Being Services segment provides pharmacy, provider services, integrated wellness, and home care services enrolled in its health plan, as well as to third parties that promote health and wellness. The company’s other businesses category consists of military services, primarily its TRICARE south region contract that provides health insurance coverage to the dependents of active duty and retired military personnel and their dependents; Medicaid, a federal program to facilitate the delivery of health care services primarily to low-income residents; and closed-block long-term care businesses, as well as contract with Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) to administer the LI-NET (Limited Income Newly Eligible Transition) program, which allows individuals to receive immediate prescription drug coverage. As of December 31, 2012, Humana Inc. had approximately 12.1 million members enrolled in medical benefit plans; and approximately 8.1 million members enrolled in specialty products programs. Humana Inc. was formerly known as Extendicare Inc. and changed its name in April 1974. The company was founded in 1961 and is headquartered in Louisville, Kentucky.

Humana Inc. announced plans to open a RightSource(R) mail-order pharmacy call center and support operation in Irving in August, bringing more than 620 new jobs to the area over the next three years. RightSource is Humana's pharmacy management company providing mail-order delivery to members' homes. The convenience of mail-order delivery and the lower cost of obtaining drugs by mail order pharmacy have created tremendous demand for RightSource's services. Humana RightSource with similar operations in Arizona and Ohio serves 1.5 million people and filled nearly 20 million scripts in 2012, making it one of the mail order pharmacies. Humana will build-out all three floors of the building, located at 2001 W. John Carpenter Freeway, to accommodate its office and work spaces, open meeting spaces, conference rooms, training and huddle rooms, storage areas and communications functions.
Humana Inc. announced that Tracie Fahy, formerly Chief Operating Officer for Humana Florida Medicare Advantage HMO CarePlus Health Plans, has been appointed Regional Market Vice President for Humana's North Florida Medicare market operations. Fahy will report to Humana South Florida Senior Products President Dr. Terry Smith and she will be based in Jacksonville. Fahy, whose appointment took effect last month, will oversee the company's Medicare business in Northeast and North Central Florida, Daytona Beach and the Florida Panhandle. Fahy succeeds Betty Assapimonwait, who is retiring in June from Humana.
Humana Inc. announced that Roy A. Beveridge, M.D. has been appointed Senior Vice President and Chief Medical Officer, effective June 17, 2013. Dr. Beveridge will serve on the company's Executive Team and report to President and Chief Executive Officer Bruce Broussard. He'll be responsible for developing Humana's clinical strategy as well as policies for clinical employees (associates) across Humana's clinical organizations. Dr. Beveridge is currently Chief Medical Officer for McKesson Specialty Health, a subsidiary of McKesson Corporation based in The Woodlands, Tex. Prior to McKesson's acquisition of US Oncology in 2010 he served as the Executive Vice President and Medical Director at US Oncology. Dr. Beveridge was also the Co-Director of the Bone Marrow Transplant Program at INOVA Fairfax Hospital in Falls Church, Virginia.
