IAR Systems Enables Development for Low-Power Sensor Processing Based on New NXP Dual-Core Series

IAR Systems announced that its development toolchain IAR Embedded Workbench(R) for ARM(R) provides excellent performance and multicore debugging for the new ultra-low-power LPC54100 microcontroller series from NXP Semiconductor. The series is targeted for applications with demands on always-on sensor processing and high sensor density, typically seen within implementations for wearable health and fitness applications, gaming, and industrial applications such as environmental monitoring, home and building automation, lighting and robotics. IAR Embedded Workbench for ARM includes code optimization techniques that produce a fast performing code on the market. The fast performing code has a significant impact on keeping the application's power consumption to a minimum. Using IAR Systems' probe I-scope(TM), developers can also test and tune their applications for power optimization and extend battery lifetime by learning the power consumed by individual modules and detect code design flaws causing unnecessary power consumption. The LPC54100 series features an asymmetric dual-core architecture based on ARM Cortex(R)-M4F and ARM Cortex-M0+. For maximal power/performance efficiency, developers can use the low-power ARM Cortex-M0+ core for sensor data collection, aggregation, and external communications and the ARM Cortex-M4F core for more math-intensive algorithms. IAR Embedded Workbench for ARM is a complete set of tools for developing embedded applications. It features the powerful IAR C/C++ Compiler(TM) as well as the C-SPY(R) Debugger with multicore debugging and a broad selection of user-friendly features such as performance profiling, stack analysis, code coverage and power profiling. IAR Systems Group AB (publ) announced group earnings results for the third quarter and nine months and parent earnings results for the nine months ended September 30, 2014. For the quarter, the group reported net sales of SEK 64.9 million against SEK 54.9 million a year ago. EBITDA was SEK 18.4 million against SEK 17.9 million a year ago. Operating profit was SEK 15.6 million against SEK 15.4 million a year ago. Profit before tax was SEK 15.6 million against SEK 15.2 million a year ago. Basic earnings per share were SEK 1.06 against SEK 0.96 a year ago. Profit was SEK 13.4 million compared to SEK 11.0 million, cash flow from operating activities was SEK 23.9 million against SEK 17.8 million and investments in property, plant and equipment was SEK 1.2 million against SEK 0.3 million a year ago. Return on equity was 5.0% compared to 4.3% for the last year. For the nine months, the group reported net sales of SEK 189.6 million against SEK 168.7 million a year ago. EBITDA was SEK 47.3 million against SEK 38.0 million a year ago. Operating profit was SEK 39.7 million against SEK 31.2 million a year ago. Profit before tax was SEK 40.1 million against SEK 31.1 million a year ago. Cash flow from operating activities was SEK 54.4 million against SEK 30.7 million a year ago. Profit was SEK 31.6 million or SEEK 2.53 per basic share compared to SEK 23.0 million or SEEK 2.02 per basic share and investments in property, plant and equipment was SEK 2.5 million against SEK 1.4 million for the last year. Return on equity was 11.1% compared to 8.8% for the last year. For the nine months, the company reported net sales of SEK 9.4 million against SEK 9.17 million a year ago. Operating loss was SEK 0.5 million against operating profit of SEK 5.1 million a year ago. Loss before tax was SEK 0.3 million against profit before tax of SEK 10.6 million a year ago. Loss was SEK 0.2 million compared to profit of SEK 9.4 million for the last year.
