Its products include IAR Embedded Workbench, a set of development tools for building and debugging embedded applications; IAR visualSTATE, a machine design tool for embedded systems that offers verification and validation tools, and generates compact C code; IAR KickStart Kit, an evaluation environment solution for embedded system applications; and I-jet and JTAGjet-Trace in-circuit debugging probes that connect a processor to a PC host and are used by developers to analyze and debug code in embedded systems. The company also provides starter kits and debug probes through e-shop; and integrated real-time operating system products, as well as a range of wireless and software solutions. I.A.R. IAR Systems Partners with CAST Inc. to Offer New Possibilities for Developers Working with 8051-Based Applications

IAR Systems announced that the company has partnered up with CAST Inc. to offer new possibilities for developers working with 8051-based applications. With the recently introduced version 9.10 of the high-performance development toolchain IAR Embedded Workbench for 8051, complete tool support for CAST's 8051 microcontrollers is available. CAST helped pioneer 8051 intellectual property in 1999, and continues as an 8051 IP leader with hundreds of customers successfully shipping products. Partnering with 8051 design experts Silesia Devices, CAST's offerings include world-class 8051 MCUs that are among the fastest and the smallest such IP cores available. With proven reliability and easy development, these fast, small, and power-efficient modern 8051s are finding new life paired with sensors or communications functions in Internet of Things (IoT), mobile, and wearable electronic applications. IAR Embedded Workbench for 8051 is a complete set of development tools for microcontrollers based on the 8051 core. For simplified development workflows, the tools feature integrations for a range of hardware debug systems and device configuration tools. IAR Systems has in cooperation with CAST developed a plugin for the C-SPY Debugger in IAR Embedded Workbench with support for CAST's native on-chip debug package.

IAR Systems® Introduces New Version of its Popular Development Toolchain IAR Embedded Workbench® for 8051

IAR Systems® introduced a new version of its popular development toolchain IAR Embedded Workbench® for 8051. The toolchain includes high-performance compiler and debugger tools with extensive support for a wide range of microcontrollers from vendors such as Atmel, Intel, Infineon, NXP, Silicon Labs and Texas Instruments. Version 9.10 includes further tweaked code optimizations, new debugging functionality and added core support. Thanks to its proven reliability and easy development, the 8051 technology has seen a revival in the form of 8051-based System on Chips (SoCs) targeting Internet of Things applications. These fast, small, and power-efficient modern devices drive the need for powerful, easy-to-use development tools. CAST Inc. supplies world-class 8051 IP cores that are among the fast and small available and complete development tools support for these cores is now available in IAR Embedded Workbench. The new support includes devices which implements a Multiplication-Division Unit (MDU). The MDU allows developers to use hardware accelerator options for multiplication and division from within the code. These tasks are inherently expensive in an 8-bit microcontroller, but are significantly faster using MDUs. In the C-SPY® Debugger, version 9.10 adds new windows for managing macros. The Macro Registration window controls which macro files are loaded and the Debugger Macros window shows a list of all macros available in the debugger. C-SPY macros are used to automate various tasks for debugging and verification. The macros can also be used to perform a variety of other tasks such as hardware configuration and simulation of peripheral drivers, as well as to feed simulated data to the application during runtime. The C-SPY Debugger Reset button has been improved. It is now possible to select whether to run to main or not without leaving the debug session. The debugger will override the project settings and insert or remove this breakpoint. New is also the possibility to save C-SPY watch window content to a file that can be used for logging or analysis purposes. In addition to the complete CAST device support, new devices from Silicon Labs are also supported by the new version. To simplify device selection, the Project Options menu has been improved to let developers select their device in a static menu selection entry.

IAR Systems Reinforces Development for the MSP430 Community

IAR Systems announced that the company releases a new version of its development toolchain IAR Embedded Workbench for the MSP430 core from Texas Instruments. The new release adds new features as well as support for the latest MSP430 FRAM-based microcontrollers. Support for several new FRAM (Ferroelectric Random Access Memory) microcontrollers has been added, including the new RF430FRL15x sensor transponders that are a part of TI's Security + Communications series. IAR Embedded Workbench for MSP430 is a complete set of powerful and reliable tools for building and debugging embedded systems based on the 16-bit MSP430 microcontroller family. Its powerful build tools features sophisticated optimization technology creating the fast performing, most compact code in the industry. Speed-efficient code is crucial in order to keep the power consumption to a minimum for the ultra-low-power applications in which MSP430 microcontrollers are mainly used. The latest version of the tools introduces selectable smaller math functions for even more compact code. Also added is an integration of more example projects from TI MSP430Ware. Developers can navigate to these projects directly from the Information Center in IAR Embedded Workbench.
