Integrated Device Technology, Inc. Announces 2-Watt Wireless Power Receiver for Wearable Devices

Integrated Device Technology, Inc. announced the 2-watt wireless power receiver and battery charger, delivering technology in a compact package ideal for small form factors, including wearable applications. The IDTP9026 offers a high level of integration and lower external component count than competitive products, enabling designers to minimize board area and bill of materials. The device has a solution size requirement of less than 30 square millimeters, compared to 65 square millimeters for other available solutions. The chip is fully compliant with the Wireless Power Consortium's (WPC-1.1) standards. Part of IDT's rapidly growing wireless power receiver product family, the IDTP9026 is a single-chip solution that utilizes patented technology to eliminate the need for many passive components traditionally required, helping OEMs cut costs while reducing overall application area without sacrificing performance. The product's I(2) C interface allows programming of the charging current, charging voltage, termination current and the thermal control loop for maximum flexibility and control. Readings back from I(2) C include die and battery temperature, charging current and voltage, which can be used for custom control schemes or by the system's application and user interface. To complete the system, IDT recommends the IDTP9038 the industry's first Qi-compliant single-chip wireless power transmitter supporting a 5V input. The two devices are fully compatible and are supported by IDT's extensive design-in collateral and experience. Integrated Device Technology, Inc. to Showcase Timing and Power Management Solutions at Japan's Techno-Frontier 2014

Integrated Device Technology, Inc. announced that it will demonstrate two timing solutions--the Universal Frequency Translator (UFT(TM)) and VersaClock(R) 5 products--along with its IDTP9145 power management IC (PMIC) at TECHNO-FRONTIER 2014, held July 23-25 in Tokyo, Japan. IDT's UFT3G devices are the industry's first single-chip programmable solutions capable of generating eight different output frequencies and with less than 300 fs RMS phase jitter over the standard 12 kHz to 20MHz integration range. The devices offer independently-programmable clocking outputs with the flexibility to apply virtually any input frequency and select virtually any output frequency. IDT's VersaClock 5 family of programmable clock generators features best-in-class jitter performance with 0.7 psec typical RMS phase jitter at half the power of competing devices. IDT's multi-output timing solution consolidates system components with superior design flexibility, making it ideal for cost-sensitive, low-power consumer and low-jitter communications applications. The IDTP9145, a programmable, multi-channel power management solution designed for the Intel(R) BayTrail Atom(TM) processor, will be deployed in a tablet and demonstrated at the show. The chip is designed to meet high-performance requirements and provide high-feature integration to minimize system board area and bill-of-materials cost. The PMIC includes subsystems for voltage regulation, power sequencing management, A/D conversion, GPIOs, and others. It is factory-programmable to meet application-specific sequencing and output voltage requirements.

Integrated Device Technology, Inc. and eSilicon Corporation announced a collaboration to expedite development of next-generation RapidIO switches to meet the growing performance demands of new system architectures for wireless, embedded and computing infrastructures. The two companies will work together to initially research and develop RapidIO switches operating at 40 Gbps per port based on the RapidIO 10xN specification. Switches developed under this program will enable manufacturers of next-generation wireless base stations, Cloud RAN (radio access network), mobile-edge computing and other evolving carrier networks to stay ahead of mushrooming data usage accompanying the burgeoning use of portable devices. The RapidIO 10xN switches will offer an optimal combination of low 100ns latency, 40 Gbps per port of bandwidth and scalability to greater than 4 billion nodes in a network. The jointly developed devices will target the new generation of base station platforms such as LTE-Advanced (LTE-A), C-RAN, and 5G, but will also find use in emerging architectures such as base stations co-located with high-performance computing (HPC) platforms. IDT's production 20 Gbps per port switches are currently the de facto interconnect standard for the clustering of DSPs, microprocessors, and ASICs in existing 3G and 4G base stations deployed worldwide. Under the collaboration, the companies will build on the current production switch and bridge portfolio, with plans to make their first jointly developed products available in the second half of 2015.
