Integrated Device Technology, Inc. announced two breakthrough technologies enabling the industry's lowest phase noise voltage-controlled oscillator (VCO) and fractional output divider. IDT's latest technologies reinforce the company's leadership in timing by empowering customers to solve phase noise-related challenges in high-performance communication and networking applications. IDT's new VCO technology will be leveraged into next-generation clock generator products, and has been demonstrated to achieve less than 50 femtoseconds (fs) of RMS phase jitter over the wide-band 1 kHz to 61.44 MHz integration range. The extremely low phase noise enables customers to generate the highest-quality reference clocks for use in wireless base-stations, wired networking, and other high-performance communications equipment. High-quality reference clocks improve communication signal quality on transmission and enhance signal recovery on reception, improving data throughput via lowered error rates. Customers can also reduce total system costs by simplifying filters due to reduced noise in the signal path. In addition, IDT has developed an innovative fractional output divider circuit capable of generating any output frequency independent of the PLL's operating frequency with less than 0.7 picoseconds (ps) of integrated RMS phase jitter over the standard 12 kHz to 20 MHz integration range. The ultra-low phase noise fractional output divider enables customers to generate multiple independent frequencies from a single PLL for use in noise-sensitive communications applications.
Integrated Device Technology, Inc. announced the industry's first low-power quad 16-bit digital-to-analog converter (DAC) featuring the JESD204B high-speed serial interface. IDT's new quad DAC enables wide bandwidth support and eases board routing requirements in multi-carrier broadband wireless applications. The DAC165xQ is a quad 16-bit 1.5 Gsps DAC with 750 Msps input data rate, enabling wide bandwidth support for use across various base station transceiver (BTS) platforms. The integrated 10 Gbps JESD204B interface improves system performance and greatly simplifies routing and PCB stack-up by replacing 32 matched differential lane pairs (common with traditional interfaces) with up to eight high-speed differential lanes. The DAC165xQ supports all popular wireless standards including MC-GSM with a wide spurious-free dynamic range and low noise spectral densityfor improved signal quality.
Integrated Device Technology, Inc. announced that its 4M differential MEMS oscillators are now available through Fox Electronics, an IDT company and leading global supplier of frequency control solutions. The LVDS /LVPECL oscillators feature less than one picosecond of jitter and can be rapidly configured to the desired output frequency without the need for tuning. The high-performance and high-reliability specifications of IDT's 4M MEMS oscillators are ideal for communications, consumer, cloud, and industrial applications. The MEMS oscillators utilize IDT's patented piezoelectric MEMS (pMEMS(TM)) resonator technology, which combines the strong electromechanical coupling of a piezoelectric material with the stability and low damping of single-crystal silicon to create a passive frequency source of unparalleled performance and reliability. With no zero-time failures, no activity dips, jitter resistance to EMI, and excellent shock and vibration resistance, the new 4M MEMS oscillators offer 40 times better reliability and complement Fox's XpressO(R) configurable crystal oscillators as a resilient oscillator option. The 4M-series devices operate with +/-50 ppm frequency accuracy over the wide industrial temperature range of -40degC to 85degC, and support LVDS and LVPECL differential signaling standards at frequencies of up to 625 MHz. They are available in 7.0 x 5.0 mm (7050) standard plastic packages, and are pin-to-pin compatible with traditional crystal oscillators, making them an ideal upgrade solution.
