integrated device tech inc (IDTI) Key Developments

Integrated Device Technology Introduced a Family of IEEE 1588 Time and Frequency Generator Chips

Integrated Device Technology, Inc. introduced a family of IEEE 1588 time and frequency generator chips to reduce costs while meeting the synchronization needs of LTE-Advanced, wireless backhaul and heterogeneous networks. The unique architecture and capabilities of these devices are fully documented and accessible to allow IEEE 1588 software designers to implement their own clock recovery algorithms and add value for their customers through customization and quick turnaround support. The new family of chips includes synchronization management devices (SMDs) and port synchronizers for IEEE 1588 and synchronous Ethernet (SyncE). The SMDs manage IEEE 1588 time and frequency generation and SyncE synchronization. The port synchronizers select between redundant SMD signals and provide accurate time and low-jitter clocks to the network ports in the system. The IDT 82P33810, 82P33814 and 82P33831 SMDs reduce the cost of IEEE 1588 clocks by replacing stable but expensive oven-controlled crystal oscillators (OCXOs) with low-cost temperature-compensated crystal oscillators (TCXOs) that are stabilized with frequency information from the SyncE physical layer. The process of stabilizing the TCXOs is automatic and transparent to the IEEE 1588 clock recovery software. The IDT 82P33724 and 82P33741 port synchronizers provide independent timing channels for IEEE 1588 and SyncE; a third independent timing channel is provided for general purpose rate conversion. Hitless reference switching is supported between redundant IEEE 1588 references and between redundant SyncE references. These devices manage IEEE 1588 time and frequency references by accepting clocks paired with 1 pulse per second (1 PPS) sync signals.

IDT Announces Collaboration with Intel to Enable a Wire-Free World

Integrated Device Technology, Inc. announced at the Intel Developer Forum that it is working closely with Intel on the development of wireless charging solutions to accelerate the delivery and adoption of the nascent technology. As silicon and solutions leaders in wireless charging, the two companies expect to bring a new generation of wireless capabilities that make charging consumer products easier than ever. Based on magnetic resonance technology, these capabilities will enable the charging of multiple devices simultaneously and through chargers built into objects such as tabletops. This collaboration is the latest step in IDT's drive to deliver relief from the worry of running out of power, the clutter of wires, and the need to travel with chargers. The two companies, both board members of the Alliance for Wireless Power (A4WP), will define, design and manufacture next-generation solutions that comply with the A4WP magnetic resonance standard. The new technology will offer the ability to charge both lower and higher power devices, from wearables and phones to tablets and PCs. The companies expect to have their technology in products in 2015.

Orange Silicon Valley Uses Integrated Device Technology, Inc.'s Scalable x86 Compute Cluster and 20 Gbps RapidIO Interconnect Switches and Bridges as the Processing Platform During the Fifa World Cup Finals

Integrated Device Technology, Inc. announced that Orange Silicon Valley used IDT's scalable x86 compute cluster and 20 Gbps RapidIO interconnect switches and bridges as the processing platform to execute high-performance analytics on real-world social media traffic during the FIFA World Cup finals. For its test project, Orange Silicon Valley developed the platform to test the viability of real-time analysis of consumer interests and sentiments during the highly viewed World Cup matches. The analytics were deployed on IDT's RapidIO-connected x86 cluster running on the data center compute and networking (DCCN) motherboards developed by Prodrive Technologies. IDT's RapidIO switches offer 20 Gbps of bandwidth per link, 100 ns cut-through latency, robust fault tolerance and hot-swap support, built-in reliable transmission, and non-blocking switch performance--all of which are essential to running mission-critical analytics in a wireless network with co-located servers. The project with Orange sought to conduct deep analysis of network traffic in real time, co-located at the edge of the network at the base station. To check the viability of the plan, engineers tested their analytics on ultra-low latency, energy-efficient, computationally dense systems using real social media traffic.
