IMAX Corporation, together with its subsidiaries, operates as an entertainment technology company specializing in motion picture technologies and presentations worldwide. The company operates in seven segments: IMAX Systems, Theater System Maintenance, Joint Revenue Sharing Arrangements, Film Production and IMAX Digital Re-Mastering (DMR), Film Distribution, Film Post-Production, and Other. The IMAX Systems segment designs, manufactures, sells, or leases IMAX theater projection system equipment. The Theater System Maintenance segment maintains IMAX theater projection system equipment in the IMAX theater network. The Joint Revenue Sharing Arrangements segment provides IMAX theater projection system equipment to exhibitors. The Film Production and IMAX DMR segment produces films and performs film re-mastering services. The Film Distribution segment distributes films for which the company has distribution rights. The Film Post-Production segment offers film post-production and film print services. The Other segment owns and operates IMAX theaters; rents two-dimensional and three-dimensional large-format film and digital cameras to third party production companies; and production technical support and post-production services. The company also sells or leases its theater systems to theme parks, private home theaters, tourist destination sites, fairs, and expositions, as well as is engaged in the after-market sale of projection system parts and 3D glasses. It serves institutional customers, such as science and natural history museums, zoos, aquaria, and other educational and cultural centers, as well as commercial multiplex exhibitors. As of December 31, 2013, the company operated 837 IMAX theater systems, including 701 commercial multiplexes, 19 commercial destinations, and 117 institutional theater systems in 57 countries. IMAX Corporation was founded in 1967 and is headquartered in Mississauga, Canada.

IMAX Corporation and TCL Multimedia Technology Holdings Ltd. Announces Joint-Venture Partnership with Wasu Digital Tv Media Group

IMAX Corporation and TCL Multimedia Technology Holdings Ltd. announced a joint-venture partnership with Wasu Digital TV Media Group (WASU) as part of their IMAX TCL home theatre initiative. WASU will license and distribute IMAX-enhanced Hollywood and Chinese current theatrical and other content to the IMAX-TCL premium home theatre system. The deal builds on the 2013 joint venture agreement between IMAX and TCL to design, develop and manufacture a premium, fully integrated home theatre system that is expected to launch in China and select other global markets in 2015. Today's agreement is a significant milestone in the IMAX-TCL initiative that will enable the delivery of a wide array of premium, wholly differentiated IMAX content in the home.
