It operates through Retail Netherlands; Retail Belgium; Retail Germany; Retail Rest Of The World; Commercial Banking; Netherland Life; Netherland Non-Life; Insurance Europe; Japan Life; Investment Management; Other; and Japan Closed Block VA segments. The company accepts various deposits products, such as current and savings accounts; and offers business lending, mortgages, consumer lending, cash management, corporate finance, real estate, and lease products. It also provides a range of life and individual life, and health insurance products, as well as offers pension administration and management services under the AZL brand. In addition, the company provides non-life insurance products, including motor, transport, fire, liability, travel, disability, and accident insurance products to retail, self-employed, small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs), and corporate customers through regular and mandated brokers, ING Bank, and direct through the Internet; and corporate owned life insurance products to SMEs and owners, as well as employees of SMEs through independent agents and bancassurance. Further, it offers investment management products and advisory services to retail and institutional customers; and single premium variable annuity products. The company was founded in 1991 and is headquartered in Amsterdam, the Netherlands. ING Groep N.V. is a subsidiary of Stichting ING Aandelen.

ING Group Announces Unaudited Consolidated Earnings Results for the Second Quarter and Six Months Ended June 30, 2014

ING Group announced unaudited consolidated earnings results for the second quarter and six months ended June 30, 2014. For the second quarter, total underlying income was EUR 6,693 million against EUR 6,286 million a year ago. Underlying result before tax was EUR 1,620 million against EUR 1,241 million a year ago. Underlying net result was EUR 1,181 million against EUR 901 million a year ago. Net result was EUR 1,067 million against EUR 895 million a year ago. Net result per share was EUR 0.28 against EUR 0.23 a year ago. The Group's underlying net return on IFRS-EU equity was 10.1%. Increase of 19% in underlying net result is supported by improved results in both the Bank and NN. For the half year, underlying result before tax was EUR 3,004 million against EUR 2,852 million a year ago. Underlying net result was EUR 2,169 million against EUR 2,071 million a year ago. Net loss was EUR 851 million against net result of EUR 2,791 million a year ago. Net loss per share was EUR 0.22 against net result per share EUR 0.73 a year ago. The Group's underlying net return on IFRS-EU equity was 9.4%. The amount of core debt at ING Group increased to EUR 4.6 billion at the end of June 2014 from EUR 3.8 billion at the end of the first quarter.
