Bankia, SA. (CATS:BKIA) (Bankia) is expecting to receive binding bids for Bankia Habitat S.L.U. (Bankia Habitat) next week, daily Expansion quoted unnamed sources as saying. The buyer will acquire Bankia Habitat’s offices in Madrid and Valencia, the technology platform and 500 employees. The real estate assets and loan portfolio will remain in the hands of Bankia. The potential buyers include Morgan Stanley (NYSE:MS), Cerebrus Capital Management, L.P., Fortress Investment Group LLC (NYSE:FIG), Apollo Group Inc. (NasdaqGS:APOL), Oaktree Capital Group, LLC (NYSE:OAK) and TPG Capital, L.P.
Standard Chartered PLC (LSE:STAN) is in final talks to acquire Morgan Stanley (NYSE:MS)'s Indian wealth management unit, two people familiar with the discussions said. Standard Chartered will initially pay $8 million for the unit, which has about $800 million of assets under management, one of the people said, asking not to be identified because the information is private. The bank will follow up the payment with an undisclosed sum later, the person said. Nick Footitt, Spokesman for Morgan Stanley, and Kunal Pradhan Spokesman for Standard Chartered in Mumbai declined to comment to MINT.
The privatization of Origin Energy Limited (ASX:ORG) and EnergyAustralia Pty Ltd by the New South Wales government is to be delayed further as offers for the power plants underlying Origin Energy's and EnergyAustralia's gentrader contracts now due in June. Origin Energy, being advised by Lazard Ltd. (NYSE:LAZ) and EnergyAustralia, being advised by Morgan Stanley (NYSE:MS), are still fully engaged in the negotiating process. But the lack of alternative bidders - and competitive tension - could prove problematic if Origin and EA's bids fail to meet the state's expectations.
