International Rectifier Introduces M3G120 Series of 40W Radiation-Hardened 120V Input DC-DC Converters for Satellite Power Systems

International Rectifier announced the introduction of the M3G120 Series of 40W radiation-hardened (RAD-Hard) 120V input DC-DC converters for a wide range of digital and analog satellite power systems requiring up to 15 years or more of mission life such as space stations and NASA's Orion MPCV (Multi-Purpose Crew Vehicle) programs. The M3G120 series was developed using a proven design methodology based on the legacy of the M3G Series and extensive space design heritage. The design included a selection of established reliability and known radiation performance components fully de-rated to NASA EEE-INST-002 and MIL-STD-1547B requirements. Available in single and dual output configurations, the DC-DC converters feature standard single output voltages of 3.3, 5, 12, 15, and 28V and dual output voltages of +/-5V, +/-12V and +/-15V. Key features include total ionization dose of over 200 krad (Si), single event effect (SEE) (Heavy Ions) with rated LET greater than 83 MeV-cm(2)/mg, integrated EMI filter, and light weight of less than 110g in a compact hermetic 3.5" x 2.5" x 0.475" package including I/O pins and mounting tabs. The DC-DC converters also feature 95V to 140V DC input, up to 160V input transients, input under-voltage protection, synchronization input/output and on/off control via converter's Inhibit pin and Class K hybrid MIL-PRF-38534 qualified. Design analysis reports which include reliability analysis, components stress analysis, thermal analysis, radiation tests, and worst case analysis are available upon request. Pricing for the M3G120 Series begins at $15,750 each in 5-unit quantities. Production orders are available immediately. Prices are subject to change. This product is subject to U.S. export control laws and regulations.

International Rectifier Expands Portfolio of 60V StrongIRFET Power MOSFETs

International Rectifier, IR announced the expansion of its portfolio of 60V StrongIRFET power MOSFETs available in various standard and performance power packages. The new MOSFETs, which feature ultra-low on-state resistance (Rds(on)), are designed for a wide range of industrial applications including power tools, Light Electric Vehicle (LEV) inverters, DC motor drives, Li-Ion battery pack protection, and Switched Mode Power Supply (SMPS) secondary-side synchronous rectification. Available in through-hole and surface mount packages, the expanded 60V StrongIRFET(TM) family includes the IRF7580M. Housed in a low profile, ultra-compact Medium Can (ME) DirectFET(R) package that delivers high current density while reducing overall system size and cost, the IRF7580M is well suited for space constrained high power industrial designs. The family of 19 60V StrongIRFET(TM) power MOSFETs offers ultra-low on-state resistance for improved performance in low frequency applications, very high-current carrying capability, soft body diode, and 3V typical threshold voltage to improve noise immunity. As with the entire DirectFET(R) family, the new IRF7580M Medium Can device has wire bond free construction for improving reliability performance. Moreover, the DirectFET(R) package meets all RoHS requirements such as a completely lead-free bill of materials, and is, therefore, ideally suited for long lifecycle designs. Alternative high performance packages feature lead die attach under RoHS exemption 7(a) which is due to expire in 2016. Pricing for IRF7580M begins at USD 0.78 each in 10,000 unit quantities. Production orders are available immediately.

International Rectifier Introduces D Series of Low Power High Reliability Two Output DC-DC Converters for Satellite Power Systems

International Rectifier announced the introduction of the D Series of low power radiation-tolerant two output DC-DC converters developed to meet the high reliability design needs of satellite power systems. The new D28xxD and D50xxxxP D Series of DC-DC converters offer extremely low output noise, guaranteed End-of-Life (EOL) output voltage drift with excellent output cross regulation. Each converter output is independently regulated with 5W maximum rated output power or 10W total output power. Available in two output configurations, the first configuration offers the traditional positive and negative output combination for analog and linear circuit loads. The second configuration features two positive outputs where each output may have the same or different voltages with each voltage as low as 1V and as high as 5V. This version is well suited to DSP, FPGA, DDR memory and other digital loads. Each converter output is independently regulated with 5W maximum rated output power or 10W total output power. Following IR's design standards, the D series are designed to meet MIL-STD-1547B and NASA's EEE-INST-002, the industry's de-rating standards for EEE components stress de-rating. The D Series DC-DC converters incorporate IR's proprietary PWM controller IC which integrates several performance enhancing circuitries to minimize overall component count and improve reliability. Linear post regulation based on proprietary design is used for both outputs for low noise and high audio rejection. With a low weight of < 55 grams, the new converters are characterized with total ionizing dose (TID) of greater than 50K Rad(Si), and single event effect (SEE) linear energy transfer (LET) of heavy ions greater than 40 /mg. Pricing for the D28xxD and D5001R803R3P begins at $3,750 each in 5-unit quantities. Production orders are available immediately. Prices are subject to change. This product is subject to U.S. export control laws and regulations.
