IXYS Corporation Introduces the PIM-Mini 5A to 200A Miniature Pulsed Laser Diode Driver

IXYS Corporation announced the introduction of the compact and lightweight PIM-Mini by its IXYS Colorado division. The PIM-Mini is an air-cooled pulsed current source designed to drive laser diodes, bars, arrays, or any low-impedance load. Offered in models from 5 amperes to 200 amperes of peak current at up to 48 volts forward voltage, the PIM-Mini has been optimized for OEM designs including industrial, chemical processing and medical applications. Its size and flexibility makes it ideal for research, laboratory, scientific and other applications requiring a compact and economical high-performance pulsed driver. Pulse widths are adjustable from 25 microseconds to 8,750 microseconds (maximum pulse width varies by model), with a pulse repetition frequency up to 20 hertz. Output current is set with an internal potentiometer or an analog voltage. The pulse width is controlled with the input trigger signal. It requires two DC voltages for operation, 12 volts support power and a compliance voltage equal to 12 volts above the laser diode's forward voltage. PIM-Mini Features: Five models available with maximum output current of 5, 10, 20, 50 and 200 amperes; Rise and fall times of 5 to 10 microseconds, depending upon model; Pulse widths from 25 to 8,750 microseconds (maximum pulse width varies by model); Drives both single diodes and arrays with forward voltages up to 48 volts; Miniature air-cooled module just 4.425" H x 4.975" W x 2.125" D (112 x 126 x 54 millimeters) in size, ideal for OEM applications; 12 volt DC support power -- no AC mains input needed; RoHS compliant.

IXYS Expands Discrete Product Portfolio for AC Power Control with Two New 1600V SCRs

IXYS Corporation announced the expansion of its product offering for AC power control. Silicon Controlled Rectifiers (SCRs) are often the product of choice for OFF AC line input power rectification and control. Thus IXYS now offers the CMA50E1600HB packaged in TO247 and the CMA50E1600QB packaged in TO3P. Both new devices are single SCR discrete solutions and offer an average forward current of 50A at a case temperature of 110 degrees C and a 1,600V reverse blocking capability. Further features are a 50mA max gate trigger current and a 1,000 V/us critical rate of rise of voltage. The two new discrete packages are complemented by the already released CMA50E1600TZ, a single SCR packaged in D3-HV Pak which offers increased creepage distance. Typical applications, among others, are AC controllers, soft starters, power supplies, UPSs, medical equipment, battery chargers, controlled rectifiers and temperature controlled heating systems.

IXYS Corporation Introduces the Smallest Footprint Surface Mount Power Package for 2.2KV Rectifiers

IXYS Corporation announced the introduction of high voltage rectifiers with 2.2KV ratings in a new low cost surface mount type package, the D2-HV Pak (High Voltage TO-263). The new products introduced are the DNA30EM2200PZ and DNA30E2200PZ. The D2-HV Pak is a package solution that offers higher creepage spacing thus enabling higher voltage power semiconductors to be used as Surface Mount Devices (SMDs). DNA30EM2200PZ and DNA30E2200PZ are single rectifiers offering a 30A rating at case temperatures of Tc = 140 degrees C and a 2200V reverse blocking capability. The EM version has the anode connected to the tab and the cathode connected to both pins of the package. For the E version one pin (and the tab) is connected to the anode and the other pin is the cathode. For the D2-HV Pak, the creepage distance between the terminal to the copper of the backside is greater than or equal to 4.70 mm. In addition to industrial power control applications, these devices target other 1.2KV to 2.2KV power supplies, UPS, renewable energy, motor drives and medical applications.
