Jacobs Engineering Group Wins Contract from ASHTA Chemicals

Jacobs Engineering Group Inc. announced that it was awarded a contract to support ASHTA Chemicals Inc. in making significant upgrades to its chlorine and potassium-based chemicals plant located in Ashtabula, Ohio. Company officials did not disclose the contract value, but noted that ASHTA is making the $60 million investment to improve operational efficiency and reduce the plant's energy consumption and environmental impact. Under the terms of the contract, Jacobs is providing engineering, procurement and construction management services for the project, which is expected to take between 24 and 30 months to complete. The investment program includes replacing the plant's current mercury cell processing technology with membrane cell technology, an environmentally sustainable alternative that is expected to reduce power consumption by approximately 20%, increase component lifetimes, and improve production efficiency and worker safety.

Jacobs Engineering Group Inc. Secures Contract with Heathrow Airport Limited, UK

Jacobs Engineering Group Inc. announced that it was awarded a contract by Heathrow Airport Limited (HAL) for the role of Program Designer, Airport Resilience, on the airport's new five year investment plan. The Airport Resilience program is one of four strategic programs which together will deliver a minimum of GBP 2 billion ($3.4 billion) of investment. The program represents one of the private-sector investments in UK infrastructure. Under the terms of the contract, Jacobs is managing the scope of capital works planned across the entire Heathrow campus. This includes the development of runways, taxiways, pavements and related terminal airside assets. Jacobs Engineering Seeks Acquisitions

Jacobs Engineering Group Inc. (NYSE:JEC) seeks acquisitions. "We have a good strong balance sheet and have been very successful at using our cash for strategic acquisitions. They tend to be small to midsize acquisitions, more niche acquisitions than the big blockbusters. And we feel that those are really -- add to our consistent addition to our growth over time. And we've put a lot of effort into growing a telecom business here in the US, so we see that as a strong market for us. While we are still fairly small in that now, it continues to be a target for growth, both organically and through acquisitions. We will continue to focus on and do some acquisitions. Right now there's a major focus will be on integrating SKM. But we continue to look at particularly the upstream oil and gas markets here in the US, and in telecommunications here in the US. Of course we will continue to do niche acquisitions and be opportunistic when things come along, such as the acquisition we have announced that will be closing in July of FNS, which is -- gets us into the intelligence community with the federal government. And that's an area we want to expand into for quite a while, and it was hard to break into the club unless you did it through acquisition. So this will be a good step forward for us in growing one of those adjacencies and how it helps grow our federal business," said John Prosser, Jacobs Engineering Group Inc. Executive Vice President of Finance and Administration & Treasurer.
