Kaba Group Announces Earnings Results for the First Half of Fiscal 2014; Provides Earnings Guidance for the Fiscal 2014

Kaba Group announced earnings results for the first half year of fiscal 2014. For the period, the company increased sales by 3.3% from CHF 465.7 million to CHF 480.9 million. EBITDA declined from CHF 43.9 million to CHF 41.0 million, giving an EBITDA margin of 14.2%. This decline in profitability was largely due to investments in markets and innovations that the company announced at an earlier date. The EBITDA margin was further impacted by additional infrastructure costs for an ERP project in Europe, as well as by a changing product mix. Net profit is CHF 40.1 million. EBIT decreases to CHF 59.1 million from CHF 61.5 million in prior year. Net cash from operating activities decreased to CHF 42 million from CHF 52 million in prior year. It includes, among other things, higher tax payments in some countries like Germany, Switzerland and Austria. For fiscal 2014, tax rate is expected to be 28%, and this is due to higher profits in countries with high tax rates. EBITDA margin is just within the guidance range of 15.5% and 16.5%, and that is due to additional investments in research and development and infrastructure projects, as well as a different sales mix than what the company had last year.
