The Personal Services segment provides mobile communications services under au brand name; and fixed-line communications comprising FTTH and CATV services under au HIKARI brand name. This segment also sells mobile handsets; and serves households and individual customers. The Value Services segment offers content, settlement, and other services, as well as application, music, video, and electronic money services for households and individual customers. The Business Services segment provides cloud-based solutions that enable the use of mobile handsets, such as smartphones, tablets, and networks, as well as applications for small and medium-sized businesses, and corporations. The Global Services segment offers various types of communications services, data center services, ICT solution/cloud services, international voice traffic transmission, and other services for companies and individuals. It serves approximately 600 telecommunications providers. The company is also involved in communications facility construction, maintenance, call center, research and technological development operations, etc. KDDI Corporation was founded in 1953 and is headquartered in Tokyo, Japan.

KDDI to Introduce the Fx0 Smart Phone

KDDI will introduce the Fx0 smart phone equipped with the Firefox OS to the Japanese market. Firefox OS is the open mobile platform advocated by Mozilla Corporation (Headquarters: Mountain View, California; CEO: Chris Beard; hereafter "Mozilla") and KDDI will be the first domestic telecommunications carrier to introduce such a smart phone to the Japanese market. In order to utilize the Firefox OS's features and achieve the new worldwide WoT (Web of Things) experience, which connects various objects using Web technology regardless of PC or smart phone, KDDI will create new values using its advanced knowledge and the ideas of freedom possessed by developers and designers.

KDDI to Launch Low-Cost Smartphone Offer December 18, 2014

KDDI will start offering a low-cost smartphone service on December 18, 2014. The company will provide the service through its KDDI Value Enabler unit, established in August this year, to develop a mobile virtual network operator (MVNO) business. KDDI Value Enabler will initially offer smartphones produced by Kyocera and LG Electronics under the UQ mobile brand. KDDI Value Enabler will also provide support for companies that are looking to enter the business of low-cost smartphone service. The company will initially offer a tariff plan of JPY 2,920 per month (excluding taxes), which includes a smartphone, and 2GB for mobile data traffic.

KDDI Corporation's Cloud Offering Integrates MicroStrategy(R) Incorporated Analytics Platform(TM) to Reach Japanese Market

MicroStrategy(R) Incorporated announced that the MicroStrategy Analytics Platform is now available through the "KDDI Analytics Suite with MicroStrategy'" offering from KDDI Corporation. Selected for its scale, visualization, and mobile capabilities, the MicroStrategy Analytics Platform will provide KDDI and MicroStrategy customers in Japan with analytics, self-service data discovery, and advanced analytics into their Big Data. The offering will eventually be available in Europe, United States, Singapore, and China at a later date. KDDI Corporation, with headquarters in Tokyo, Japan, is the country's second-largest telecommunications provider with more than 40 million subscribers. KDDI and MicroStrategy customers will benefit from using the "KDDI Analytics Suite with MicroStrategy" to analyze their Big Data assets and deploy its innovative analytics, web, and mobile applications on-demand without having to host or maintain anything on-site. The KDDI cloud computing offering is now available for global enterprises based in Japan seeking a secure, scalable, high-performance solution relying on KDDI's secure wide area network "KDDI Wide Area Switch 2.
