kitron asa (KIT) Key Developments

Kitron ASA Appoints Peter Nilsson as CEO, Effective November 2014; Announces Arendal Downsizing

Kitron ASA appointed Peter Nilsson as CEO. Peter Nilsson will take up his position in November 2014. Peter Nilsson has held several senior and executive leadership positions for Swedish and US companies: PartnerTech, Rimaster, Sanmina, and Ericsson, latest as President, Electronics Technology Division, at PartnerTech AB. Kitron is therefore downsizing the Arendal operations. The current plans imply a reduction of 85 in the number of employees during 2014. At the end of June, 40 of these have already left the company. The main focus in the third quarter will be to ensure that the effects of the initiated actions are fully realized and to initiate further actions to improve profitability.

Kitron ASA Reports Consolidated Earnings Results for the Second Quarter and Six Months Ended June 30, 2014; Provides Earnings Guidance for the Second Half and Revenue Guidance for the Full Year of 2014

Kitron ASA reported consolidated earnings results for the second quarter and six months ended June 30, 2014. For the quarter, revenue amounted to NOK 457.1 million compared to NOK 430.3 million in the second quarter of 2013. Operating profit before depreciation and impairments (EBITDA) was NOK 15.5 million against NOK 18.2 million last year. Operating profit (EBIT) was reduced from NOK 9.3 million to NOK 6.9 million. Profit before tax was NOK 4.1 million against NOK 10.2 million last year. Net cash flow from operational activities was NOK 9.5 million compared to NOK 30.3 million during the second quarter last year. The growth in revenue is due to currency translation effects in consolidation. Revenue growth is the main reason for reduced cash flow. For the six months, revenue amounted to NOK 892.9 million compared to NOK 808.6 million last year. Operating profit before depreciation and impairments (EBITDA) was NOK 26.0 million against NOK 30.9 million last year. Operating profit (EBIT) was NOK 8.9 million against NOK 13.3 million last year. Profit before tax was NOK 0.8 million against NOK 11.1 million last year. Net profit amounted to NOK 2.2 million or NOK 0.01 per basic and diluted share against NOK 9.2 million or NOK 0.05 per basic and diluted share last year. Net cash flow used in operating activities was NOK 7.9 million compared to net cash flow from operating activities of NOK 14.4 million last year. Kitron expects growth in revenue in 2014, partly explained by development in foreign exchange. The growth has been significant in the first half of the year, while the expectations for the second half of 2014 are closer to the level in 2013.
