KPN Introduces New Fixed Broadband Plans

KPN has confirmed the introduction of new fixed broadband packages. The new range offers just four packages over DSL or fibre, down from the previous 21 plans. These include three triple-play offers and a basic package with home internet and fixed line. Simplification is part of KPN's strategy, as well as investing in the copper network to offer higher speeds. Under the new range, it no longer makes a distinction between copper and fibre services, and customers will be delivered service over fibre wherever it is available. In areas where FTTH is available, customers can upgrade their broadband speeds for an additional monthly fee. The basic package offers broadband at 10/2 Mbps and a fixed line for EUR 32.50 per month. If fibre is available, the speed can be increased to 100/100 Mbps for another EUR 20 per month. The triple-play plans start with the Instap tariff at EUR 45 per month for 10/2 Mbps internet, an HD receiver for IPTV (60 channels including 15 in HD, 90 radio stations) and access to interactive services such as restart from the beginning. The fixed line offers calls at 9.15 cents per minute to fixed and mobile numbers. The Standaard triple-play costs EUR 59 per month and comes with a second TV receiver and broadband at 50/5 Mbps. Spotify Premium and the TV recording service are also included. The Premium package costs EUR 82.50 per month, with a guaranteed 50/5 Mbps broadband. It also adds unlimited calls from the fixed line, which otherwise costs EUR 16.50 per month, as well as HBO (normally EUR 15.50 per month) and PC security (EUR 5).
