kroger co (KR) Key Developments

Kroger Workers Agree on Four-Year Agreement

More than 17,700 Kroger employees and union members in the company's Cincinnati/Dayton division voted to approve a new labor contract. The four-year agreement, which goes in effect immediately, impacts wages, health plans and other benefits at 108 stores in Cincinnati, Dayton and Springfield. It expires June 16, 2018. For the first time, workers in Cincinnati and Dayton share the same agreement. There were previously two separate contracts, one covering Cincinnati-area stores, and a second covering Dayton and Springfield-area stores. By merging contracts, it makes transfers and promotions across boundaries easier while providing more job and career choices for associates.

Kroger and Union Reach Tentative Agreement

UFCW Local 75 announced that it has reached a deal with Kroger to provide the same health care coverage and wages for cashiers, customer-service representatives, stock workers and other employees in both of Southwest Ohio's two larger metropolitan regions. The proposed agreement includes: one contract for union members in Cincinnati and Dayton stores. The Cincinnati region includes Northern Kentucky. Contract language improvements to protect employee seniority and work schedules. Adjustments for members impacted by an increasing minimum wage. Yearly wage increase for top-rated classifications. Retirement security through investment in the union's pension. UFCW (United Food and Commercial Workers International Union) Local 75 represents 30,000 supermarket, drugstore and food-packaging employees across Southwest Ohio, Northern Kentucky and Southeast Indiana. In addition to Kroger, union employees also work for Meijer, CVS pharmacy, John Morrell Food Group and Campbell's Soup. The Dayton-based union is scheduled to vote on the agreement July 29.
