LG Electronics Inc., together with its subsidiaries, engages in the manufacture and sale of consumer electronics, mobile communications, and home appliances under the LG name worldwide. Its Home Entertainment division offers 3D and Smart TV technology in their flat-panel TVs, LED and LCD monitors, home theatre systems, Blu-ray Disc players, audio components, video players, plasma display panels, ultrabooks, professional displays and hospitality TVs, laptops, projectors, car audio systems, and security systems for consumer and commercial markets. The company’s Mobile Communications division provides smartphones, and network and other products. Its Home Appliance division offers washing machines, dishwashers, refrigerators, freezers, convection ovens, vacuum cleaners, built-in appliances, water purifiers, and air purifiers. The company’s Air Conditioning & Energy Solution division provides residential air conditioning, system air conditioning, LED lighting solutions, and building management systems. The company was formerly known as GoldStar and changed its name to LG Electronics Inc. in 1995. LG Electronics Inc. was founded in 1958 and is headquartered in Seoul, South Korea.

LG Electronics (LG) introduced the world's first 84-inch Ultra HD TV in the Pakistan market. LG's Ultra HD TV is the company's response to growing consumer demand for larger, more immersive home TVs with greater functionality. The Ultra HD TV introduces a number of new smart features with the aim of providing greater convenience and simpler interaction. The launch of Ultra HD TV also marked the opening of LG's 'Brand Shop Cavalry Ground' designed to serve the needs of customers by offering them the opportunity to experience LG's latest products, technologies and innovations all under one roof.
Rovi Corporation settled patent infringement suits with LG Electronics Inc. and Hulu, LLC and expects to land one with TP Vision, as part of agreements that could generate $40 million this year. The TP Vision case is scheduled to go to trial in Germany in second quarter and other suits remain pending against Mitsubishi and Roku.
LG Electronics Inc. reported consolidated earnings results for the first quarter of 2013. For the quarter, the company’s sales were KRW 14,101 billion against KRW 13,205 billion a year ago. Operating income was KRW 350 billion against KRW 402 billion a year ago. Net income before tax was KRW 177 billion against KRW 458 billion a year ago. Net income was KRW 22 billion against KRW 248 billion a year ago.
