LIN Media LLC Announces Executive Appointments

LIN Media LLC announced that Les Vann has been named President and General Manager of WISH-TV and WNDY-TV in Indianapolis, IN. Mr. Vann is a veteran broadcast executive with more than 20 years of television station management experience. He steps in to his new role at LIN Media after serving as President and General Manager of WJCL-TV in Savannah, GA since January 2013. Prior to LIN Media, Mr. Vann was Vice-President and General Manager of WKRC-TV and Local 12.2 in Cincinnati, OH, the 35th largest television market in the U.S. He has also managed television stations in Illinois, Iowa, North Carolina, South Carolina, and New York. Mr. Vann will continue reporting to Jay Howell, LIN Media's Vice President Television. The company also announced that Steve Doerr has been appointed acting General Manager for WJCL-TV. Most recently, Mr. Doerr was Vice President/Group Manager - Northeast Region for Smith Media LLC, where he managed five network affiliated stations and digital platforms in Central New York and New England through the transitional period as the businesses were marketed and sold.

Media General And LIN Media Considers A Divestiture Plan

Media General, Inc. (NYSE:MEG) declared that it would be buying local WTTA, Channel 38, from Sinclair Broadcast Group, Inc. (NasdaqGS:SBGI) as part of a bigger contract for to meeting the required divestitures as it merges with LIN Media LLC (NYSE:LIN). For stations, the firm would engage in deals with multiple buyers in five markets that regulators will need it to divest, comprising Birmingham, Alabama; Providence, Rhode Island/New Bedford, Massachusetts; Mobile, Alabama/Pensacola; Green Bay/Appleton, Wisconsin; and Savannah, Georgia; the companies announced in a news release. George L. Mahoney, President and Chief Executive Officer of Media General, said in a statement, “We're pleased to announce this divestiture plan, which we believe should clear the way for our business combination with LIN Media to move forward in the regulatory approval process.” LIN Media Chief Executive Officer, Vincent L. Sadusky, called the divestiture plan an important milestone that positions us well with regulatory authorities.
