Lloyds Banking Group plc provides a range of banking and financial services to individuals and businesses in the United Kingdom and internationally. It operates through four segments: Retail; Commercial Banking; Wealth, Asset Finance, and International; and Insurance. The Retail segment offers a range of retail financial service products, such as current accounts, savings, personal loans, credit cards, and mortgages under the Lloyds Bank, Halifax, TSB, and Bank of Scotland brands. This segment also distributes general insurance and bancassurance products; and sells long-term savings, investment, and general insurance products. The Commercial Banking segment provides banking and related services to business clients, from small and medium-sized enterprises to corporate and financial institutions. The Wealth, Asset Finance, and International segment offers private banking and asset management and asset finance; and operates international retail businesses. The Insurance segment provides long-term savings, protection, and investment products through the bancassurance, intermediary, and direct channels; and life, pensions, and investment products, as well as home insurance products through the retail branch network, direct channels, and strategic corporate partners. This segment offers its products under the Lloyds Bank, Halifax, Bank of Scotland, TSB, and Scottish Widows brands. Lloyds Banking Group plc was founded in 1695 and is headquartered in London, the United Kingdom.

Government TO Sell A 5.4% Stake Lloyds Bank

The government plans to sell as much as 5.4% of Lloyds Banking Group plc (LSE:LLOY) over the next six and a half months. George Osborne, Chancellor of the Exchequer, said, "This government is determined to strengthen the banking system and to get back to the taxpayers the money that was put into the banks."

Government To Sell Stake In Lloyds

The government intends to sell its stake in Lloyds Banking Group plc (LSE:LLOY). The government plans to continue to sell down its remaining stake in Lloyds from 24.9% to just below 10% over approximately six months, starting December 17, 2104. The Treasury said shares will not be sold below the average price the previous government paid for them, which was 73.6 pence. Morgan Stanley will act as a broker on behalf of the Treasury. Chancellor George Osborne said: "The trading plan I'm initiating today is made possible by our long term economic plan which is delivering a more secure and resilient economy. It is another step in reducing our national debt and in getting taxpayers' money back."

Lloyds Banking Promotes Theresa Newell to Managing Director and Co-Head of Leveraged Credit Sales

Lloyds Banking announced that it has promoted Theresa Newell to the position of managing director and co-head of leveraged credit sales. Newell is to work alongside Paul Osment, co-head of leveraged credit sales, and will report to Adam Barrett, managing director and head of institutional sales. Newell joined Lloyds Banking in 2013.
