The Aeronautics segment offers military aircrafts, such as combat and air mobility aircrafts, unmanned air vehicles, and related technologies. The Information Systems & Global Solutions segment provides advanced technology systems and expertise, integrated information technology solutions, and management services for civil, defense, intelligence, and other government customers. The Missiles and Fire Control segment offers air and missile defense systems; tactical missiles and air-to-ground precision strike weapon systems; logistics and other technical services; fire control systems; mission operations support, readiness, engineering support, and integration services; and manned and unmanned ground vehicles. The Mission Systems and Training segment provides ship and submarine mission and combat systems; mission systems and sensors for rotary and fixed-wing aircraft; sea and land-based missile defense systems; radar systems; littoral combat ships; simulation and training services; and unmanned systems and technologies. The company was founded in 1909 and is headquartered in Bethesda, Maryland.

U.S. Naval Sea Systems Command Awards Lockheed Martin $10 Million Contract to Maintain MK-48 Torpedoes

The Naval Sea Systems Command awarded Lockheed Martin a contract option worth approximately $10 million to support the Navy's intermediate-level maintenance activities for all MK-48 torpedoes. This is the first option exercised from a contract awarded in 2013 and brings the total contract value to more than $18 million. Work on this contract is performed at the Navy's facility in Pearl Harbor, Hawaii.

US Air Force Launches DMSP Satellite Built by Lockheed Martin

Lockheed Martin Corporation has announced that The US Air Force has launched Defense Meteorological Satellite Program, or DMSP, satellite, built by the company, from Space Launch Complex 3 East at Vandenberg Air Force Base, California. DMSP satellites collect data that enables military forecasters to find, track and forecast weather systems all over the globe, particularly in remote and hostile areas for deployed troops. Additionally, DMSP supports a broad range of civil users with sensing capabilities not provided by US civil and international weather satellite systems.

Lockheed Martin Corporation and University of Arizona Deliver James Webb Space Telescope to NASA's Goddard Space Flight Center

Lockheed Martin announced together with the University of Arizona, that the primary imaging instrument for the James Webb Space Telescope (JWST), was delivered to NASA's Goddard Space Flight Center. The company said that the new Near Infrared Camera or NIRCam, has now been integrated into the heart of the telescope called the Integrated Science Instrument Module (ISIM), to complete the suite of four instruments that, combined, will explore the deep universe after it's launched in 2018. NIRCam will function as the central imaging component of JWST.
