MAN SE Receives New All-Terrain Vehicles Order from Federal Ministry of Interior

MAN SE has received an order for new all-terrain vehicles from the Federal Ministry of the Interior for its civil protection vehicle fleet. The use of MAN all-wheel drive trucks in civil protection goes back many years. Now 164 MAN TGM special-purpose trucks for decontaminating people and 119 MAN TGM hose-reel vehicles have been ordered of the latest generation of vehicles that meet exhaust emission standard Euro 6. The first vehicles have already been handed over to the civil protection team in Bonn. The civil protection vehicles are used on a day-to-day basis by fire brigades throughout Germany and are painted in the customary fire-brigade red. The 164 emergency services vehicles are based on the MAN TGM 18.340 4x4 with crew cab and are fitted out with bodywork from Freytag for transporting decontamination equipment. These Decon P vehicles are used in cases of accidents which involve nuclear, biological or chemical hazards or hazardous materials. The vehicles thus have electricity generators, tent heaters, lighting units, instantaneous water heaters, drinking water tanks and waste water tanks on board. The MAN TGM 13.250 4x4 with selectable all-wheel drive was chosen for the 119 hose-reel vehicles. These vehicles will be utilised, for example, in cases of major fires where long hose lines need to be laid or where large volumes of water need to be pumped away after storms or floods. The driver can select a special programme in the MAN TipMatic in cases of emergency which activates rapid acceleration and special downshift.

MAN Wins Order from German Interior Ministry

MAN has won a major order from the German Federal Ministry of the Interior for 283 special purpose trucks. The Ministry of the Interior has ordered 164 MAN TGM special-purpose trucks for decontamination operations, and 119 MAN TGM hose-reel vehicles. All of the trucks are Euro 6 compliant. The decontamination trucks will be based on the MAN TGM 18.340 4x4 with crew cab, and are fitted with bodywork from Freytag for transporting decontamination equipment. The vehicles will be used in situations involving nuclear, biological or chemical hazards or hazardous materials. The MAN TGM 13.250 4x4 with selectable all-wheel drive was chosen for the 119 hose-reel vehicles, which will be utilized in cases of major fires where long hose lines need to be laid or where large volumes of water need to be pumped away after storms or floods, for example.

Alstom Orders 200 Additional Traction Engines from MAN

Alstom makes follow-up order from MAN: 200 additional traction engines for Alstom. Following on from the initial serial order of 500 MAN engines Alstom has ordered another 200 units for installation in its Régiolis, diesel electric railcars. 200 additional traction engines for the Régiolis rail car from Alstom: Four or six MAN engines of model D2676 LE621 will be installed in each vehicle. Four or six MAN engines of model D2676 LE621 will be installed in each vehicle. The serial delivery of the Régiolis rail cars from Alstom to the French rail operator SNCF is scheduled as of April 2014. With a power rating of 338 kW (460 hp), the efficient MAN straight-six cylinder engine impresses with its compact and weight-saving design. This is achieved through the use of a two-stage supercharger with exhaust gas recirculation as well as by choosing to dispense with an SCR (Selective Catalytic Reduction) unit. Due to the compact installation dimensions and low weight of the vertically-installed D2676 LE621 MAN engine, the complete drive unit package which comprises a diesel engine and generator, cooling unit, air filter and exhaust system and electrical and electronic systems can be arranged on the roof of the vehicle. The improved access eases servicing considerably while, at the same time, the end-to-end low flooring of the interior of the vehicle noticeably improves passenger comfort. In this way, Alstom will introduce the first major fleet of end-to-end, low floor section rail cars with a roof-engine concept on to the European market. Fast pick-up and economy in continuous operation. MAN offers efficient 6- and 12-cylinder diesel engines for use in railcars, tracks and shunting locomotives, railway maintenance vehicles and power supply. They generate power outputs from 257 kW (350 hp) for railcars and 265 kW (360 hp) for locomotives to 735 kW (1,000 hp), while engines for rail power generation are rated between 230 kW and 543 kW (313 hp and 738 hp). MAN engines are compact to install – either conventionally in the drive module or in a space-saving manner under the floor or in the roof. Their clear advantages lie in a fast pick-up and economy in continuous operation – in compliance with the various exhaust-gas standards applying throughout the world.
