Maxis Berhad, an investment holding company, provides mobile, fixed line, and international gateway telecommunications services, as well as Internet and broadband services primarily in Malaysia. It operates in four primary segments: Mobile Services, Enterprise Fixed Services, International Gateway Services, and Home Services. The Mobile Services segment provides postpaid mobile, prepaid mobile, mobile data, broadband, and roaming services. The Enterprise Fixed Services segment offers a suite of voice services, data services, very small apparatus terminal services, and Internet protocol and managed services to cater for business customers. The International Gateway Services segment provides services to international telecommunications carriers for termination of traffic into Malaysia, and services to send the company’s own international traffic abroad, as well as bandwidth leasing services. The Home Services segment offers fixed voice services and data services to home customers. Maxis Berhad also owns, maintains, builds, and operates radio facilities and associated switches; and operates an international gateway. The company was founded in 1995 and is based in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. Maxis Berhad is a subsidiary of Maxis Communications Berhad.

Maxis Berhad Announces Commodity Murabahah Term Financing Facility of Up to MYR 2.5 Billion from RHB Islamic Bank Berhad

The Board of Directors Maxis Berhad announced that the company has on 2 April 2014 entered into an agreement with RHB Islamic Bank Berhad for a  MYR 2.5 billion financing facility. Maxis intends to utilise the MYR 2.5 billion Financing Facility as: approximately MYR 1.0 billion to refinance borrowings of the company and its subsidiaries; and approximately MYR 1.5 billion to finance capital expenditure and general working capital requirements of Maxis. The MYR 2.5 billion financing facility is expected to have an impact on the NA, earnings and gearing ratio of the Maxis Group for the financial year ending 31 December 2014 and the subsequent financial periods. Upon full utilisation of the MYR 2.5 billion financing facility, based on Maxis's consolidated audited financial statements for financial year ended 2013: the net debt to earnings before interest, tax, depreciation and amortisation (EBITDA) position of the Maxis Group will increase from 1.6 times to 1.9 times; the net debt to EBITDA will increase from 1.5 times to 1.8 times based on normalised EBITDA of MYR 4.5 billion excluding the one off items of MYR 212 million.

The Board of Directors of Maxis Berhad announced the changes to the Board of Directors of Maxis Berhad, following the changes in nominee directors of Maxis Communications Berhad, the majority shareholder of Maxis:- The resignation of Dr. Fahad Hussain S. Mushayt at the conclusion of the Maxis' Annual General Meeting (AGM) scheduled on 7 May 2014; Chan Chee Beng who is due to retire by rotation at the AGM has expressed his intention not to seek re-election at the AGM, and as such will relinquish his position at the conclusion of the AGM; The appointment of Fraser Mark Curley as a director to replace Dr. Fahad Hussain S. Mushayt. Fraser Mark Curley 's appointment will be with effect from 8 May 2014; and the appointment of Lim Ghee Keong as a director to replace Chan Chee Beng. Lim Ghee Keong 's appointment will be with effect from 8 May 2014.
