Nogotkov Reportedly Resumes Talks To Sell Minority Stake Of Svyaznoi To MTS

Svyaznoi (Svyaznoy Group) owner Maksim Nogotkov has resumed talks to sell a minority stake in the group to Mobile Telesystems OJSC (NYSE:MBT) (MTS), a source at MTS, two sources at MTS' parent company Sistema JSFC (MICEX:AFKS), and a source close to The ONEXIM Group told RosBusinessConsulting Database. A source at MTS noted that the acquisition of the minority stake had been complicated from the legal point of view. "There are quite a few players involved in this story, so far we have been talking only with Maksim (Nogotkov), but these are not one-to-one talks and a possible decision that we may reach will require an approval of creditors," the same source said. A representative of Onexim emphasized that no deal was possible without Onexim, the creditor of Svyaznoy. According to sources close to Onexim and Sistema, there was a possibility that the deal would fall through, because Onexim was more interested in returning the money with interests than in the assets. If a buyer of Svyaznoy agrees to repay Nogotkov's debt to Onexim, everyone would agree to this arrangement, a source at Sistema said.

According to several sources of daily Finance, Bain was no longer interested in the acquisition of Telekom Slovenije. Bain Capital is not the first to withdraw from the bidding. Russian operator MTS quit the race earlier, probably because of the sanctions on Russian capital in the European Union, Finance noted.
