It provides integrated clinical software applications for hospitals and health systems, which include Sunrise Enterprise suite of clinical solutions, comprising an acute care electronic health record (EHR) integrated with financial/administrative solutions, including performance management and revenue cycle/access management; and modules of the Sunrise suite that are available on a stand-alone basis, as well as additional stand-alone solutions, including emergency department information system, care management, and discharge management. The company's solutions for physician practices comprise integrated EHR and practice management functionality available either through on-premise delivery or through software-as-a-service; revenue cycle management software, which enables practices to outsource their full revenue cycle or address requirements in-house; clearinghouse services; stand-alone electronic prescribing; and document imaging solutions for physician practices. It also provides solutions for home care, hospice, skilled nursing, and other post-acute organizations ranging from an integrated EHR and financial management solution to referral management, as well as mobile solutions to deliver remote access to EHR and other capabilities on various mobile devices including iPad, iPhone, BlackBerry, Android, and Windows Mobile smartphones. In addition, the company sells related hardware, professional services, remote hosting, and IT outsourcing services. The company is headquartered in Chicago, Illinois.

For the quarter, the company reported total revenue of $347.1 million compared to $364.7 million a year ago. Loss from operations was $28.3 million compared to income of $13.0 million a year ago. Loss before income taxes was $24.8 million compared to income of $9.5 million a year ago. Net loss was $11.6 million or $0.07 per basic and diluted share compared to net income of $5.8 million or $0.03 per basic and diluted share a year ago. Net cash provided by operating activities was $39.3 million compared to $74.6 million a year ago. Capital expenditures were $16.4 million compared to $19.4 million a year ago. Capitalized software was $7.9 million against $13.3 million a year ago. Total non-GAAP revenue was $348.0 million compared to $365.5 million a year ago. Total non-GAAP operating income was $17.6 million compared to $40.9 million a year ago. Non-GAAP net income was $16.2 million or $0.09 per diluted share compared to $23.5 million or $0.12 per diluted share a year ago. Non-GAAP adjusted EBITDA was $49.8 million against $58.3 million a year ago. For the year 2013, the company expects its annual non-GAAP tax rate to be around 30%.
Allscripts announced it will expand in Raleigh through a planned $2.8 million investment that could add 350 jobs by the end of 2017. The new jobs will be primarily in research and development. The decision to expand here was made partly because the company received a state award through the Job Development Investment Grant (JDIG) program.
