meru networks inc (MERU) Key Developments

Miami-Dade County Public Schools Expands its Meru Education-Grade Wi-Fi Solution of Meru Networks

Meru Networks announced that Miami-Dade County Public Schools (M-DCPS) has expanded its Meru Education-Grade (MEG) Wi-Fi solution and rolled out Meru Identity Manager to automate student access as part of their 1:1 mobile device program. During this second wave of its 1:1 computing program, M-DCPS is giving every student in elementary, seventh and ninth grades Microsoft Windows 8 devices. The Meru Wi-Fi currently supports about 150,000 students and their mobile devices. When the rollout is complete, it will connect all 345,000 students and 40,000 teachers in 392 schools. To ensure success for its 1:1 program, M-DCPS expanded its Wi-Fi to better support rich-media content and online assessments in its high-density environment. The ability to do so is vital to implementing Common Core State Standards (CCSS). M-DCPS uses a variety of academic and administrative applications over the Meru wireless network. Educational applications on the network include e-textbooks, Lightspeed, Edmodo, Discovery Education, IMath and Scantron. Administrators and staff also access student information systems and financial applications over the Wi-Fi, in addition to systems that support food services, transportation and facilities. M-DCPS' use of Meru E(z)RF Network Manager helped speed deployment of tens of thousands of Meru access points across hundreds of schools. E(z)RF is a centralized network management software application for Meru wireless LANs. It provides network-wide monitoring, end-to-end visibility and powerful control of wireless deployments. Its intuitive, web-based interface delivers superior ease-of-use and offers instant access to real-time and historical performance metrics on each managed controller, access point and client. E(z)RF can be deployed on a Meru Services Appliance or on a VMware-based virtual appliance. Meru Identity Manager automates network access for district-owned and guest devices, while reducing the burden on IT staff with self-service functionality. Identity Manager Smart Connect is optimized for both administrators and end users, enabling one-click self-provisioning of client devices for secure wireless connectivity. Identity Manager Guest Connect improves guest management by authorizing internal sponsors to create guest accounts and enabling guests to securely self-register. The MEG wireless solution is designed to solve schools' 1:1 and BYOD challenges and support their learning-essential applications. MEG starts with three simple steps: On-board quickly with 1:1 and BYOD provisioning and secure wireless access mapped to IT policies; Connect all 1:1 and BYOD devices reliably anywhere on campus; and Learn by deploying validated learning and teaching applications on 1:1 and BYOD devices over the MEG wireless solution.

Cedarville University Deploys 802.11ac Meru Education-Grade Wi-Fi Solution of Meru Networks

Meru Networks announced that Cedarville University has deployed an 802.11ac Meru Education-Grade (MEG(TM)) Wi-Fi solution to support thousands of simultaneous connections in relatively small spaces such as residence halls and the school chapel. The network extends to most of the campus' outdoor areas as well. The 802.11ac network at Cedarville University covers approximately 40 buildings, including academic buildings and residence halls, along with athletic fields, soccer, baseball, softball, cross-country and track fields. It also extends to several additional outdoor areas where students congregate, helping ensure coverage wherever and whenever students need it.

Greater Poland Schools Deploy Meru Education-Grade (MEG) Intelligent Wi-Fi to Advance E-Learning

Meru Networks(R) announced that the Greater Poland (Wielkopolska) province in Poland has deployed a Meru Education grade (MEG(TM)) solution to enable e-learning at more than 105 middle and secondary schools. Deployment at approximately 230 additional schools is currently underway. The e-Szkola Moja Wielkopolska e-learning development program involves approximately 9,450 students and 1,050 teachers. The MEG solution has allowed the Greater Poland schools to take advantage of the latest in digital learning, while reducing the cost of network administration and eliminating problems with wireless connectivity. The Meru MEG wireless solution was selected for its ability to support high-device density and for the ease of deployment and management enabled by the Meru MobileFLEX architecture. Since the Meru MEG wireless solution has been deployed, wireless connectivity problems in the schools have been eliminated and the cost of network administration has decreased sharply. Intensive testing by the schools showed that a single Meru access point could simultaneously stream high-definition video to more than forty mobile devices. More than 1,000 Meru AP1010 enterprise access points and more than one hundred MC1500 controllers have been deployed in the Wielkopolska schools. Meru E(z)RF Network Manager is used centrally to monitor and manage the wireless LANs. The MEG solution is designed to solve educational institutions' BYOD issues and support their learning-essential applications. MEG starts with three simple steps:. On-board quickly with BYOD provisioning and secure wireless access mapped to IT policies; Connect all BYOD devices reliably anywhere on campus; and learn by deploying validated learning and teaching applications on BYOD devices over the MEG wireless solution.
