The company provides variable, universal, term, and whole life products; individual disability income products; personal lines property and casualty insurance, including private passenger automobile, homeowners, and personal excess liability insurance; and variable and fixed annuities for asset accumulation and distribution needs, as well as mutual funds and other securities products. It also offers group insurance products, such as variable, universal, and term life products; dental, group short- and long-term disability, and accidental death and dismemberment coverages; and voluntary and worksite products consisting of personal lines property and casualty insurance, as well as LTC, prepaid legal plans, and critical illness products. In addition, the company provides annuity and investment products comprising guaranteed interest products and other stable value products, income annuities, and separate account contracts for the investment management of defined benefit and defined contribution plan assets; and structured settlements and products to fund postretirement benefits and company-, bank- or trust-owned life insurance, as well as health insurance, group medical, credit insurance, endowment, retirement, and savings products. It serves individuals and corporations, as well as other institutions and their employees. The company sells its products through sales forces, third-party organizations, independent agents, and property and casualty specialists, as well as through career agency, bancassurance, direct marketing, brokerage, and e-commerce channels. MetLife, Inc. was founded in 1863 and is based in New York, New York.

Maxwell Health Announces Availability of MetLife Products

Maxwell Health has announced the availability of MetLife products through its private marketplace, effective January 1, 2015. This relationship will allow to provide customers and marketplace with premier products and services that reach far beyond traditional employee benefits and financial service offerings. This collaboration is truly transformative in the employee benefits and insurance market. Through the Maxwell Health platform, employees will have access to the MetLife products which include: Basic and Voluntary Life; Dental PPO (PDP Plus Network); Vision; Basic and Voluntary Long Term and Short Term Disability; Auto and Home (in First Quarter 2015); Critical Illness (Attained Age); Accident; Hospital Indemnity; Legal Services and MetLife Defender (available 4/1/15 for employers with fewer than 1,000 employees). All products will be available for groups with more than 100 employees, with a more limited selection coming soon for companies with between 10 and 100 employees. The platform is also a comprehensive benefits administration solution for HR administrators and supports complex benefits strategies for groups of any size. Maxwell integrates with The Online 401(k) for retirement savings, ConnectYourCare and Discovery Benefits for HRA, HSA, FSA, commuter benefits, and COBRA services and best-in-class HRIS, including BambooHR, Tribe HR and SilkRoad, with more integrations to be announced in the coming months.

MetLife, Inc. Appoints Esther Lee as Executive Vice President and Global Chief Marketing Officer, Effective January 12, 2015

MetLife, Inc. appointed Esther Lee will executive vice president and global chief marketing officer effective January 12, 2015. She will report to Chairman, President and Chief Executive Officer Steven A. Kandarian and serve as a member of the company’s Executive Group. In this role, Lee will lead Global Brand and Marketing with overall responsibility for continuing MetLife’s transformation to a world-class, consumer-led brand that puts the customer at the center of all business decisions. She will manage all aspects of global marketing, advertising and promotion. Lee joins MetLife from AT&T, where she was senior vice president, brand marketing, advertising and sponsorships. In this role, Lee was responsible for all brand marketing activities and the integration of brand leadership into the company’s business strategies across the $128 billion enterprise.

MetLife Launches MetLife Investment Portfolio Architect

MetLife announced the launch of the MetLife Investment Portfolio Architect(SM), an investment-focused variable annuity. The product is designed with a flexible framework to accommodate both investors who wish to build their own portfolios, as well as those who seek asset allocation guidance. This flexibility allows investors and their financial professionals to create custom solutions to help the investor achieve his or her individual financial goals while also providing all the traditional benefits offered by a variable annuity. As a variable annuity, MetLife Investment Portfolio Architect affords investors the chance to grow their investments on a tax-deferred basis, receive guaranteed income payments for life and withdraw portions of their account value to meet unexpected financial needs. Additionally, investors may purchase an optional return of premium death benefit that provides protection of their principal. The MetLife Investment Portfolio Architect enables investors to further diversify their portfolios and manage portfolio risk through the addition of alternative investments. At the same time, it provides a flexible investment framework including 80 thoughtfully cultivated traditional and alternative investment options and 14 Blueprint Models. The models have been designed by MetLife Advisers, LLC working with Wilshire Associates.
