It offers various individual life insurance, and individual and group long-term care insurance products, which are distributed through various distribution channels, including insurance agents, brokers, banks, financial planners, and direct marketing. The company also offers annuities, pension contracts, and mutual fund products and services; various retirement products to group benefit plans; banking products and services comprising deposit and credit products to Canadian customers; and non-guaranteed, partially guaranteed, and fully guaranteed investment options through general and separate account products. These products are distributed through distribution channels comprising insurance agents and brokers affiliated with the company, securities brokerage firms, financial planners, pension plan sponsors, pension plan consultants, and banks. In addition, the company is involved in asset management, property and casualty reinsurance, and run-off reinsurance operations, including variable annuities, and accident and health. Further, it invests in commercial properties, which are leased to third parties. Manulife Financial Corporation was founded in 1887 and is headquartered in Toronto, Canada.

Manulife Financial Corporation Announces Charles Guay as President and Chief Executive Officer, Manulife Québec and Executive Vice President, Institutional Markets

Manulife Financial Corporation announced that upon successful completion of the acquisition of the Canadian-based operations of Standard Life plc, Charles Guay will become President and Chief Executive Officer, Manulife Qubec and Executive Vice President, Institutional Markets, Manulife Canada. In the newly-created role of President and Chief Executive Officer, Manulife Qubec, Mr. Guay will be responsible for developing and implementing a strategy to significantly increase Manulife's presence, visibility and impact in Qubec. As Executive Vice President, Institutional Markets, he will lead the Canadian Division's Group Benefits, Group Savings and Affinity Markets business nationally. He will be responsible for furthering Manulife's leadership position in that sector. Mr. Guay succeeds Rick Brunet, Executive Vice President, who will focus solely on the critical role of leading the integration of Standard Life Canada. Charles Guay has been President and CEO of Standard Life Canada since January 2012. Before joining Standard Life, he held several executive positions with National Bank of Canada, including President and CEO of National Bank Securities.

Manulife Announces Executive Changes, Effective March 1, 2015

Manulife announced that Roy Gori has been appointed as President and Chief Executive Officer, Manulife Asia, effective March 1, 2015. Gori will report directly to company's President and Chief Executive Officer, Donald A. Guloien, and will become a member of the company's Executive Committee. He succeeds Robert Cook who is retiring after a 36-year career at the company. Gori joins the company from Citi, where he was most recently Head of Consumer Banking, North Asia and Australia, and Regional Head of Retail Banking, Asia Pacific, which included responsibility for Citi's insurance and wealth management businesses. Previous roles included CEO of Citibank Australia, and overseeing various credit card and consumer loans businesses across Asia.
