MMI Holdings Limited announced that the current Group Company Secretary, Francois Jooste, is unable to continue with his duties, due to ill health. The Nominations Committee of the MMI Holdings Board has therefore appointed Maliga Chetty as the acting Group Company Secretary with effect from April 25, 2013, until a permanent appointment is made.

MMI Holdings Limited announced unaudited group earnings results for the six months to 31 December 2012. For the period, the company reported core headline earnings of 16% to ZAR 501 million. Net income was ZAR 42,830 million compared to ZAR 23,882 million a year ago. Results of operations were ZAR 3,090 million compared to ZAR 1,831 million a year ago. Profit before tax was ZAR 2,468 million compared to ZAR 1,269 million a year ago. Earnings were ZAR 1,496 million compared to ZAR 815 million a year ago. Earnings attributable to the owners of the parent were ZAR 1,468 million compared to ZAR 805 million a year ago. Diluted earnings per share were 94 cents compared to 53 cents a year ago. Net cash inflow from operating activities were ZAR 7,384 million compared to net cash outflow from operating activities of ZAR 2,534 million a year ago. Core headline earnings increased by 12% to ZAR 2,955 million. The group declared an interim dividend of 51 cents per share, representing a 16% increase compared to the previous half year.
