Manitex International, Inc. provides engineered lifting solutions. The company operates through two segments, Lifting Equipment and Equipment Distribution. The Lifting Equipment segment designs, manufactures, and distributes boom trucks and crane products that are primarily used for industrial projects and energy exploration, as well as for infrastructure development, including roads, bridges, and commercial construction; and specialized rough terrain cranes and material handling products for the construction, municipality, and railroad industries. This segment also provides rough terrain forklifts for use in commercial and military applications; specialty mission oriented vehicles; and other specialized carriers, heavy material handling transporters, and steel mill equipment, as well as specialized custom trailers and hauling systems used for transporting heavy equipment. The Equipment Distribution segment distributes rough terrain and truck cranes, boom trucks, and sky cranes for infrastructure development and commercial construction, road and bridge construction, general contracting, roofing, scrap handling, and sign construction and maintenance; supplies repair parts for various medium to heavy duty construction equipment; provides used lifting and construction equipment; and offers repair services. Manitex International, Inc. sells its products primarily in the United States, Canada, Italy, Australia, South Africa, Russia, Peru, Turkey, Egypt, Germany, Mexico, the Czech Republic, Venezuela, the United Arab Emirates, and Algeria. The company was formerly known as Veri-Tek International, Corp. and changed its name to Manitex International, Inc. in 2008. Manitex International, Inc. was founded in 1993 and is headquartered in Bridgeview, Illinois.

Manitex International, Inc. reported unaudited consolidated earnings results for the second quarter and six months ended June 30, 2014. For the quarter, the company reported net revenues of USD 68,399,000 compared to USD 62,554,000 a year ago. Operating income was USD 5,178,000 compared to USD 4,604,000 a year ago. Income before income taxes was USD 4,423,000 compared to USD 3,859,000 a year ago. Net income was USD 2,986,000 or USD 0.22 basic and diluted per share compared to USD 2,655,000 or USD 0.22 basic and diluted per share a year ago. Earnings before interest, taxes, depreciation and amortization (EBITDA) were USD 6,293,000 compared to USD 5,513,000 a year ago. Second quarter 2014 revenues increased USD 5.8 million or 9.3% from the second quarter 2013 to USD 68.4 million, a quarterly record for the company. However, the quarter's revenues would have exceeded USD 70 million if not for a number of government-ordered units that shipped at the end of the quarter that was still in transit and, therefore, and recognized at quarter's end. Second quarter 2014 revenues include the benefits of USD 6.4 million from the Sabre and Valla acquisitions made subsequent to the prior year period. The principal factor influencing operating income was USD 0.2 million of increased tax expense attributable to higher income and to an increase in the effective tax rate to 32.5% from 31.2% for the second quarter 2013. For the six months period, the company reported net revenues of USD 130,975,000 compared to USD 122,120,000 a year ago. Operating income was USD 8,789,000 compared to USD 7,861,000 a year ago. Income before income taxes was USD 7,205,000 compared to USD 6,456,000 a year ago. Net income was USD 4,863,000 or USD 0.35 basic and diluted per share compared to USD 4,566,000 or USD 0.37 basic and diluted per share a year ago. Net cash used for operating activities was USD 8,096,000 compared to USD 2,066,000 a year ago. Purchase of property and equipment was USD 446,000 compared to USD 804,000 a year ago. Earnings before interest, taxes, depreciation and amortization (EBITDA) were USD 11,015,000 compared to USD 9,634,000 a year ago.
