MSA Safety Incorporated develops, manufactures, and supplies products that protect people’s health and safety worldwide. Its safety products integrate a combination of electronics, mechanical systems, and materials to protect users against hazardous or life threatening situations in the oil and gas, fire service, mining, construction, and other industries, as well as in the military. The company offers respiratory protection products, including self contained breathing apparatus, and air-purifying and escape respirators to protect against the harmful effects of contamination caused by dust, gases, fumes, volatile chemicals, sprays, micro-organisms, fibers, and other contaminants; and portable and fixed gas detection instruments comprising single-and multi-gas hand-held detectors, multi-point permanently installed gas detection systems, and flame detectors and open-path infrared gas detectors to detect the presence or absence of various gases in the air. It also provides thermal imaging cameras for the fire service market to detect sources of heat in order to locate downed firefighters and other people trapped inside burning or smoke-filled structures; and head, eye, face, and hearing protection products comprising industrial hard hats, fire helmets, ballistic helmets, hearing protection products, non-prescription protective eyewear, and face shields for work environments where hazards present dangers, such as dust, flying particles, metal fragments, chemicals, extreme glare, and optical radiation. In addition, the company offers fall protection equipment, such as confined space equipment, harnesses, fall arrest equipment, lanyards, and lifelines for construction and plant workers, and people working at height; and consumer and contractor safety products. It serves industrial and military end-users, distributors, and retail consumers. The company was founded in 1914 and is headquartered in Cranberry Township, Pennsylvania.

MSA Safety Incorporated's G1 Self-Contained Breathing Apparatus Receives Approval from the National Institute for Occupational Safety and Health (Niosh) and Certification from the Safety Equipment Institute

MSA Safety Incorporated announced that its G1 Self-Contained Breathing Apparatus (SCBA) has received U.S. government approval from the National Institute for Occupational Safety and Health (NIOSH) and certification from the Safety Equipment Institute (SEI) as compliant to the 2013 Edition of the National Fire Protection Association's (NFPA) 1981 and 1982 performance standards. With these approvals, MSA has the green light to manufacture and sell its G1 SCBA to fire departments who have been waiting for this news for months. Initial G1 SCBA shipments will begin immediately, and full production is scheduled to ramp up over the next two quarters to meet the company's growing backlog of business. Unveiled earlier this year at the 86 annual Fire Department Instructor's Conference in Indianapolis, Ind., the G1 SCBA is the most technologically advanced, streamlined, balanced, and customizable SCBA the company has ever produced. This all-new SCBA platform includes several revolutionary patent-pending features, including the elimination of all electronic components from the facepiece; a Central Power" feature that powers the entire unit from a single battery compartment; darkness- and smoke-piercing buddy lights" that provide visible indicators of critical air supply data from any angle; and improved voice amplification communications, all of which come standard on every MSA G1 SCBA.

The Board of Directors of MSA Safety Incorporated declared a fourth quarter dividend of 31 cents per share on common stock, payable December 10, 2014 to shareholders of record on November 17, 2014. The Board also declared a dividend of 56-1/4 cents per share on preferred stock, payable December 1, 2014 to shareholders of record on November 17, 2014.
