Microsoft Launches Low-Cost Lumia 530 Smartphone in UK

Microsoft announced UK availability for its new Lumia 530 smartphone across major retailers from 4 September. The Lumia 530 will be on sale from GBP 60, making the Windows Phone 8.1 device Microsoft's cheapest smartphone to date comes. The smartphone features a 1.2GHz quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon processor, 4-inch LCD display, 5MP rear camera, 4GB on-board memory, a slot for SD cards up to 128GB, 512 MB RAM, HSPA up to 21 Mbps and Wi-Fi. The Lumia 530 will be available from EE, Vodafone, O2, 3, Phones 4u and Carphone Warehouse in a range of colours including orange, green and dark grey, along with a selection of changeable shells.

Government of Jordan Signs Software Licensing Deal with Microsoft and Network Exchange Technology Company

The government of Jordan has signed a software licensing deal with Microsoft, to allow government entities to access Microsoft applications as needed. The Select Plus deal will enable government departments to take software licences through Microsoft partner Network Exchange Technology Company (NEXT), with favourable terms to help control costs. The agreement was signed on behalf of the government by Minister of Information and Communications, Azzam Sliet, and Microsoft's Tom Comber in the presence of Ministry Secretary General, Nader Thniebat, General Manager of the National Information Technology Center, Abdul Hameed al-Abadi, Microsoft Office Manager in Jordan Hussein Malhas and the General Manager of Next Company Maher Farraj.
