Microsoft and Akamai Join Forces in First Cybersecurity-Focused Accelerator in Israel

Microsoft Corp. and Akamai Technologies have announced that, together with leading venture capital (VC) firm Jerusalem Venture Partners (JVP), they are working on a unique accelerator in the field of cybersecurity. The program is located at the Microsoft Ventures Accelerator in Tel Aviv. Startups accepted into the program will be announced Aug. 24, 2014, and the class will run through January 2015. This collaboration strengthens Microsoft's already solid partnership announced a leading VC, JVP. Participants will gain professional sessions and active mentoring from JVP, which will be an active participant in the startups selection process and will offer a $1 million investment in one of the cybersecurity startups at the end of program. The participants will also receive free tools, top-quality mentorship, and other resources designed to help them successfully grow their business. In addition to making available its respected Web-security expertise, Akamai is offering to invest up to $25,000 with each cybersecurity startup accepted into the program through the purchase of convertible notes. Mentoring and introductions to relevant partners and customers will also be offered. Microsoft's collaboration with Akamai and JVP is intended to provide startups with mentorship and market expertise that can help them accelerate their business and create breakthroughs in cybersecurity.

JD.com, Inc. Launches Xbox One Sales in China

JD.com, Inc. began taking China pre-orders for Microsoft Corporation's Xbox One gaming console. As part of an agreement between the companies, JD.com will have the exclusive right to accept pre-orders for Xbox One in China from July 28-30 through JD.com's Mobile QQ and Weixin entry points. On July 31, 2014 the JD.com website and JD.com's exhibition booth at the ChinaJoy Expo in Shanghai will also begin taking pre-orders. The Xbox One will be the first gaming console available for purchase through authorized sales channels in China since 2000.

Cisco Systems, Inc. Announces Multi-Year Sales and Go-To-Market Agreement with Microsoft Corporation

Cisco Systems, Inc. has announced a multi-year sales and go-to-market agreement with Microsoft Corporation to transform data centers through the delivery of integrated solutions. Building on a rich history of solution development, Cisco and Microsoft will both invest in sales, marketing and engineering resources to drive global alignment, while delivering deeper technology integration across cloud and data center markets. In year one, the companies will focus on six countries-the US, Canada, UK, Germany, France, and Australia-with expansion to additional countries in the following years. Cisco and Microsoft will align partner incentive programs to accelerate solutions selling via mutual channel partners. Cisco and Microsoft sales teams will work together on cloud and data center opportunities, including an initial program focused on the migration of Windows 2003 customers to Windows 2012 R2 on the Cisco UCS platform. Integrated solutions will focus on private cloud, server migration, service provider, and SQL Server 2014. Cisco technology includes Cisco UCS, Cisco Nexus switching, Cisco UCS Manager with System Center integration modules, and Cisco PowerTool. Cisco-based integrated infrastructure solutions will include FlexPod with NetApp and Cisco Solutions for EMC VSPEX. Microsoft technology includes Windows Server 2012 R2, System Center 2012 R2, PowerShell, Microsoft Azure and SQL Server 2014. Cisco Application Centric Infrastructure and Cisco InterCloud Fabric to be integrated in the solutions in future releases.
