Microsoft has announced job cuts to its Trustworthy Computing (TwC) cyber-security division. The company told that while the firm will continue working to improve its services security, it will be making an unspecified number of cuts to TwC. The cuts are part of a wider reform going on within the company.

Microsoft Axes 2,100 Jobs in Second Round of Cuts; Announces to Consolidate its US Work

Microsoft on September 18, 2014 axed 2,100 jobs in a second round of cuts which were announced earlier this year 2014. The company in July unveiled plans to slash a total of 18,000 jobs from its global workforce during the course of a year, the majority from its recently-acquired Nokia handset unit. In the first round, Microsoft cut about 13,000 workers. Microsoft will close its Silicon Valley research-and-development operation as part of 2,100 layoffs. The company confirmed the news of the closure of the Microsoft Research lab at the company's campus in Mountain View, California and said it would involve the loss of 50 jobs. After the cuts, Microsoft said it will still have 2,500 employees at its Mountain View campus. Microsoft is cutting 160 jobs in California and another 747 in the Seattle area, as part of a total of 2,100 layoffs around the world. Microsoft Research, which has over 1,000 scientists and engineers worldwide working on new product ideas, will consolidate its US work at Microsoft's main campus in Redmond, Washington, and in offices in New York and Boston.

These platforms, including Microsoft Office 365 and Microsoft Dynamics CRM Online, complement Azure solutions.
