Sprint Teams with Microsoft to Bring Lumia 635 with Windows Phone 8.1 to Boost Mobile, Virgin Mobile USA and Sprint

Sprint and Microsoft will showcase a renewed partnership with the announcement of Lumia 635 arriving across multiple Sprint brands beginning with Boost Mobile and Virgin Mobile on Dec. 23, 2014. It will be available on Jan. 16 to Sprint postpaid customers. This is the first Windows Phone 8.1 smartphone to launch on Sprint’s network and the first Lumia Windows Phone available to Sprint’s prepaid customers. Lumia 635 will be available on Dec. 23, 2014 in cyan from Boost Mobile and in white from Virgin Mobile USA for $99.99 (excludes taxes). Lumia 635 is a powerful device for the smart shopper looking for something new. Cortana, personal digital assistant, helps manage daily tasks and can set reminders based on time, location and people. The nimble Windows Phone 8.1 operating system combined with a Qualcomm® Snapdragon™ 1.2GHz quad-core processor and enhanced LTE access (where available) make for fast browsing and multitasking capabilities on the Sprint 4G LTE network, currently serving 540 cities. The Windows Phone home screen provides a smooth overview of the life, keeping all emails, upcoming appointments, websites and contacts front and center. Windows Phone 8.1 offers a revamped notification system, people can set up custom shortcuts within the Action Center for everything from Bluetooth to music to the camera, and certain alerts can easily be previewed without opening the app in question. Familiar Microsoft services are also available, including Office, Skype and OneDrive.

Health Catalyst Collaborates with Microsoft Corp. on Data Warehouse and Analytics for Healthcare Industry

Health Catalyst announced its work with Microsoft Corp. to collaborate closely and deploy data warehouse and analytics solutions for the healthcare industry. Collaboration will be centered around Microsoft's Analytics Platform System (APS), which brings together SQL Server and Hadoop data into a pre-built appliance, integrated with Health Catalyst's Late-Binding™ Data Warehouse and Analytics Platform, a revolutionary approach to managing healthcare data across the continuum of care. The Health Catalyst Enterprise Data Warehousing (EDW) and Healthcare Analytics platform has been designed specifically for today's and tomorrow's highly complex and dynamic healthcare data environment. Microsoft SQL Server and APS, with its flexibility and scalability, is integral to Health Catalyst's mission to help its customers transform healthcare nationwide. The collaboration encompasses several solutions over the short-term, mid-range and long-term, including: Deploying and optimizing Microsoft's parallel data warehouse architecture (APS) at one of Health Catalyst's client organizations. Collaborating on the implementation of Health Catalyst's predictive models, geospatial analytics and natural language processing to assist with population health management (PHM) to improve clinician interactions with technology. Extending the Health Catalyst Late-Binding architecture and using PolyBase to combine SQL Server and Microsoft's Hadoop-based platform. Deploying Health Catalyst's de-identified comparative analytics platform, CAFE, to Microsoft Azure. Working together to enhance Atlas, Health Catalyst's proprietary metadata repository, its white space data entry tool IDEA and its Source Mart Designer, all of which are integrated with the SQL Server product line. Unlike traditional early-binding EDWs, which typically require up to 18 months and longer to begin delivering value, Health Catalyst's Late-Binding platform offers rapid time-to-value often within a few months, if not weeks, according to the January, 2014 report Healthcare Analytics: Making Sense of the Puzzle Pieces by the respected healthcare research firm KLAS. Rather than binding source data to schemas, business rules and vocabulary when that data is first streamed into the data warehouse (as happens with typical EDWs), data in a Health Catalyst data warehouse is bound as it is needed by the analytic use case. This innovative design ensures that the data retains its original, unchanged and granular form, allowing the data to be constantly repurposed to support a multitude of use cases, providing the flexibility required in an industry where new uses cases and new data sources are constantly being defined.
