Its services for personal customers also consist of savings and investment products, such as investment funds, structured products, shares, bonds, and certificates; cards and payment services; pension credits and savings, contractual and premium pensions, and pension scheme portfolios; home, family, accident, travel insurance products; life insurance; and private banking services, such as wealth and investment advisory, management, and stock broking services. The company’s services for corporate customers include working capital, fixed asset, enterprise, investment, sales, foreign trade, and property finance; bank guarantees; financial risk management services; savings and investment services; company, agriculture, occupational, and individual pensions; endowment, life, and health and personal accident insurance products; and trade finance and securities services, as well as capital markets products, investment banking, foreign exchange and money market, commodities, fixed income, corporate finance, debt capital markets, trading, research, and asset/liability management services. In addition, it provides international banking, cash management, and export and import services. The company operates through 1,000 branches, as well as provides phone, mobile, and e-banking services. The company was founded in 1820 and is headquartered in Stockholm, Sweden.

Nordea Bank AB (publ) Reports Group and Parent Company Earnings Results for the First Quarter Ended March 31, 2013

Nordea Bank AB (publ) reported group and parent company earnings results for the first quarter ended March 31, 2013. For the quarter on group basis, net interest income was €1,400 million compared to €1,420 million a year ago. Total operating income was €2,558 million compared to €2,531 million a year ago. Profit before loan losses was €1,259 million compared to €1,255 million a year ago. Operating profit was €1,060 million compared to €1,037 million a year ago. Diluted EPS was €0.20 compared to €0.19 a year ago. Return on equity was 11.3% compared to 11.9% a year ago. Net interest income decreased mainly due to lower income on interest-rate positions as yield curves have flattened. Operating profit increased due to higher total income and lower net loan losses. Risk-adjusted profit increased by 4% compared to the preceding year. Net profit increased 3% to €796 million, due to higher income and stable costs. Cash flow from operating activities was €1,472 million against €1,550 million a year ago. Purchase of property and equipment was €30 million against €27 million a year ago. Purchase of intangible assets was €34 million against €43 million a year ago. For the quarter on parent company basis, net interest income was €175 million compared to €195 million a year ago. Total operating income was €963 million compared to €702 million a year ago. Profit before loan losses was €465 million compared to €335 million a year ago. Operating profit was €440 million compared to €326 million a year ago. Net profit was €406 million compared to €311 million a year ago.
