Nordex to Build Two Wind Farms in South Germany

Nordex announced it is building further on its success with the N117/2400 in South Germany. The company has now received two orders at the same time from its new customer, the Fronteris Group from Regensburg. The sites for the two projects, ‘Hohenzellig’ and ‘Bucheck, are located near Hof in Bavaria, where the turbines will achieve an above-average capacity factor of up to 34%. This high energy yield is possible because the N117/2400 is ideally suited to the regional wind conditions and Fronteris decided to have 141-metre hybrid towers installed for the project. Both contracts included a Premium Service Agreement with a term of 15 years. Nordex will be establishing a service station at the site in time for grid connection of the wind farms in order to guarantee timely technical maintenance on a realistic basis. Together the two wind farms will supply at least 20,000 households with 'green' electricity, making a valuable contribution to the regional energy balance.

Nordex SE Extends Partnership with Supplier Carbon Rotec

Nordex SE has extended its partnership with its supplier Carbon Rotec by some years and widened it to cover more products than in the past. As of 2015 Nordex will also be having its NR50 and NR65.5 rotor blades produced by Carbon Rotec - the latter for the new N131/3000 turbine. Hitherto this partnership was limited to the NR58.5 for the top-selling N117/2400. The Nordex blade strategy covers its own lead factory in Rostock and the international production network of its strategic suppliers, TPI and Carbon Rotec. The lead factory, where Nordex manufactures its latest rotors, is particularly important as this is where the design, material, tools and quality processes are defined. When it comes to quality and reliable delivery the manufacturer sets particularly high standards for choosing its partners. Nordex is currently investing some EUR 50 million in extending the capacity of the international production network as well as in modernising and expanding its own blade production facility in order to meet the increasing demand for highly complex products.

Nordex SE Receives Follow on Order from Impax

Impax Asset Management has placed a second order with Nordex to build a wind farm in Finland. The Kuolavaara-Keulakkop-- project (KUKE) is being constructed in Finnish Lapland and will comprise 17 N117/3000 Delta machines especially designed for these regions with their medium-strength winds. In order to cope with the cold weather conditions at this site the rotors will be fitted with a special anti-icing system, which will significantly increase the technical availability of the turbines and thus ensures higher yields and a higher financial return. Turbine installation work at the site will start in spring 2015. The wind farm is due to be connected to the grid and begin feeding in green electricity in during 2015. Impax has also concluded a Premium Service Agreement with Nordex initially for five years with a view to ensuring that the yield level is maintained over the long term. Nordex is currently installing turbines at the first wind farm for Impax in Finland. This is the "Joukhaisselk-" project with an installed capacity of 27 megawatts, which will consist of nine turbines from the same series.
