Nestle Opens New Coffee Capsule Factory in Schwerin

Nestle SA has opened a new coffee capsule factory in Schwerin, Germany. The factory will lead to the creation of around 450 new jobs and comes after two years of construction and a cost of EUR 220 million. The new factory will supply Germany, the larger market for Nescafe Dolce Gusto, as well as the Scandinavian and Eastern European markets with the brand's capsules for hot and cold coffee- and tea-based drinks. Nestle's other existing Nescafe Dolce Gusto capsule factories are in Tutbury, UK and in the Spanish city of Girona. The Schwerin factory furthers Nestle's youth employment initiative to create 20,000 opportunities for young people in Europe by 2016 to address the European youth unemployment crisis. By the end of 2015, Nestle Germany alone hopes to create over 1,000 jobs and 1,300 traineeships for young people.

Nestlé Nutrition announced earnings results for the first half of ended June 2014. For the period, the company announced sales of CHF 4,692 million and 7.9% organic growth, 3.8% real internal growth; 21.1% trading operating profit margin. The improvement of the trading operating profit margin reflected the effects of divestments and the integration of new businesses.

Nestlé S.A. Announces Earnings Results for the First Half Ended June 2014; Provides Earnings Guidance for the Full Year 2014

Nestlé S.A. announced earnings results for the first half ended June 2014. For the period, the company's sales fell 4.8% to CHF 42.981 billion ($47.279 billion) from the same period a year ago. The Group's trading operating profit was CHF 6.4 billion. The reported trading operating profit margin was 15.0%. Net profit was down to CHF 4.6 billion, reported earnings per share were CHF 1.45, both impacted by the strong Swiss Franc. Underlying earnings per share in constant currencies were up 3.6%. Operating cash flow was CHF 4.3 billion. For the full year 2014, the company announced outlook is confirmed with organic growth around 5% and improvements in margins, underlying earnings per share in constant currencies and capital efficiency.
