NII Holdings announced that it to issue $700 million in senior notes due 2019 at an annual yield of 7.875%. The company initially planned to offer $500 million in senior notes, but subsequently decided to increase the offer. The company expects the sale of the notes to close on May 23, 2013. The company will use the proceeds to fund the payment in full of its Mexico bank loan and one of its Brazil bank loans.

NII Holdings Inc. (NasdaqGS:NIHD) is continuing to explore " strategic alternatives " for Nextel Chile, including partnerships and commercial arrangements, Chief Executive Officer of NII Steven Shindler said. NII has in recent months focused its investments on Mexico and Brazil - which together accounted for around 90% of NII Holdings' first quarter of capital expenditure and has said that it is not ruling out asset sales in Peru, Chile and Argentina. The company is continuing to explore strategic options for its Chilean business, and is not pursuing aggressive growth as it is focusing on limiting its investments in the country, Chief Operating Officer of NII, Gokul Hemmady said. "We're doing everything possible to keep the market strong but with a reduced level of investment while we explore a number of discussions and a number of potential paths," Shindler added.
