This segment’s solutions comprise defense electronics and systems, airborne fire control radars, situational awareness systems, early warning systems, airspace management systems, navigation systems, communications systems, marine power and propulsion systems, space systems, and logistics services. The company’s Information Systems segment offers advanced solutions for Department of Defense, national intelligence, federal civilian and state agencies, and commercial and international customers. This segment offers products and services primarily for the areas, such as command and control, communications, cybersecurity, air and missile defense, intelligence processing, civil security, health information technology, government support systems, and systems engineering and integration. Its Technical Services segment provides logistics, modernization, and sustainment support; and other advanced technology and engineering services, including space, missile defense, nuclear security, training, and simulation. The company was founded in 1939 and is based in Falls Church, Virginia.

US Navy Selects Northrop Grumman Corporation for Ship Self-Defense System

The U.S. Navy has awarded Northrop Grumman Corporation a $12 million task order for a full range of engineering services to continue modernizing the Ship Self-Defense System Mark 2 (SSDS MK2). The contract has a potential value of $61 million over five years, if all options are exercised. SSDS MK2 is a combat system designed for anti-air defense of U.S. and coalition partner aircraft carriers and amphibious ships. The system coordinates the ship's existing sensors, self-defense weapons and countermeasures to shorten the detect-to-engage cycle. The task order was awarded under the SeaPort-e indefinite delivery, indefinite quantity contract vehicle. Under the direction of the Combat Direction Systems Activity (CDSA), Dam Neck, Virginia Beach, the company will provide life cycle engineering, system engineering and integration, and hardware prototype development. Replacing obsolete components with open systems COTS computing hardware will allow adaptable deployment of more current and secure capabilities.

Northrop Grumman Corporation Names Tameika N. Hollis Engineering, Manufacturing and Logistics Executive

Northrop Grumman Corporation has appointed Tameika N. Hollis, vice president, Engineering, Manufacturing and Logistics (EM&L) for the Advanced Concepts and Technologies Division (AC&TD) in its Electronic Systems sector, effective immediately. In her new position, Hollis will be responsible for EM&L-related product design, development, test, production, process improvement, infrastructure, policy and procedure development that will ensure effective support for AC&TD's long-range strategic focus. She will also work with the division's product architects to develop cross-cutting technologies that support sector goals of commonality and affordability. In addition, Hollis will be responsible for the Electronic Systems sector's infrastructure operations, including facilities, capital administration, flight test, the sector affordability team and the Technology Underground activities at the sector's BWI campus. Hollis joined Northrop Grumman in 2003 and has held a number of leadership positions in engineering and programs. She previously served as the Systems Engineering, Integration & Test (SEIT) deputy for the Cobra Judy program, and as director of Radar Systems Engineering. Most recently, she has served as director, Passive RF programs in the ISR & Targeting Systems Division. She previously worked for Raytheon and for Boeing Satellite Systems.

Northrop Grumman Announces New Space Assembly and Test Facility

Northrop Grumman Corporation announces new $20 million Maryland Space Assembly and Test (M-SAT) facility on the back of its Baltimore campus adjacent to Baltimore Washington International Thurgood Marshall Airport. The 25,000-square-foot building is designed to handle space payload integration programs. The M-SAT space assembly, integration and test building will feature the large clean room facility on the company's Baltimore campus, a three-story high-bay area that will house operations for space programs. Northrop Grumman currently develops and delivers space payloads at its Baltimore campus utilizing several smaller space assembly facilities. This new, larger building will allow for expanded payload production to meet growth in the company's space business. The building will house up to 80 engineers and technicians working on space systems assembly, integration and test. The facility will also contain office space for collating the integration and test staff, and a lab space for test bed development and testing. Construction of the new facility is being led by Patriot Contractors LLC and is expected to be completed during the summer of 2015.
