The company operates through four segments: Mobile Broadband, Global Services, HERE, and Technologies. The Mobile Broadband segment provides mobile operators with radio and core network software together with the hardware needed to deliver mobile voice and data services. The Global Services segment offers mobile operators with a range of services, including network implementation, care, managed services, and network planning and optimization, as well as systems integration services. The HERE segment focuses on the development of location intelligence, location-based services, and local commerce. This segment serves automotive, commerce, mobile, Internet, and consumer electronics industries. The Technologies segment is involved in the development and sale of intellectual property rights and technology licensing activities. It has collaboration agreement with Juniper Networks. Nokia Corporation was founded in 1865 and is headquartered in Espoo, Finland.

Nokia Appoints Ramzi Haidamus as President Nokia Technologies and as Member of the Nokia Group Leadership Team, Effective September 3, 2014

Nokia announced the appointment of Ramzi Haidamus as President of Nokia's technologies business and member of the Group Leadership team, with effect from September 3, 2014. Haidamus has spent most of his career with Dolby Laboratories. During his 17 years with Dolby, he held a variety of roles, most recently with chief operating officer-level responsibility. Henry Tirri, who has served as acting head of Nokia Technologies business since its formation on May 1, 2014, will continue in this role until Haidamus joins on September 3, 2014. From that date, Tirri will step down from the Group Leadership Team and will become an advisor to Suri on technology issues.

Nokia Corporation Reports Unaudited Earnings Results for the Second Quarter and Six Months Ended June 30, 2014; Revises Guidance for the Full Year of 2014

Nokia Corporation reported unaudited earnings results for the second quarter and six months ended June 30, 2014. For the quarter, net sales were EUR 2,942 million against EUR 3,155 million a year ago. Operating profit (non-IFRS) was EUR 347 million against EUR 430 million a year ago. EPS, diluted (non-IFRS) was EUR 0.03 against EUR 0.00 a year ago. EPS, diluted (reported) was EUR 0.61 against negative EPS of EUR 0.06 a year ago. Net cash from operating activities was EUR 790 million against negative net cash from operating activities of EUR 196 million a year ago. Net profit for the quarter was at EUR 2.51 billion ($3.38 billion), against a loss of EUR 226 million at the same time last year. The sales decline was partially due to the exiting of certain customer contracts and countries. For the six months, net sales were EUR 5,606 million against EUR 6,295 million a year ago. Operating profit (non-IFRS) was EUR 651 million against EUR 684 million a year ago. Negative EPS, diluted (non-IFRS) was EUR 0.01 against EUR 0.01 a year ago. EPS, diluted (reported) was EUR 0.54 against negative EPS of EUR 0.13 a year ago. Net cash from operating activities was EUR 652 million against EUR 10 million a year ago. The company announced that its expectations for the full year 2014 have improved and that it now expect full year underlying profitability for networks to be at slightly above its long-term target range of 5 to 10%. The company expects its Networks business to perform better than previously forecast this year and as a result raised its guidance.

Panasonic To Sell Mobile Base Station Business To Nokia

Panasonic Corporation (TSE:6752) will sell base station operations of subsidiary Panasonic System Networks Co., Ltd., which include wireless control systems for communications equipment, to Nokia Corporation (HLSE:NOK1V), sources told The Nikkei on July 19, 2014. Panasonic is expected to exchange a memorandum of understanding with Nokia soon. The two companies will then work out the finer details, including the future of the unit's employees, and finalize a deal. Panasonic is looking to sell its unit by end of March 2015.
