The company’s Wealth Management unit offers trust, investment management, custody, and philanthropic services; financial consulting; guardianship and estate administration; family business consulting; family financial education; brokerage services; and private and business banking services. This unit serves high-net-worth individuals and families, business owners, executives, professionals, retirees, and established privately held businesses. Its Asset Management unit offers active and passive equity and fixed income portfolio management services; alternative asset classes, such as private equity and hedge funds of funds; and multi-manager advisory services and products to institutional and individual separately managed accounts, bank common and collective funds, registered investment companies, exchange traded funds, non-U.S. collective investment funds, and unregistered private investment funds. Northern Trust Corporation was founded in 1889 and is based in Chicago, Illinois.

Northern Trust Announces Board Appointments

Northern Trust announced that Dean M. Harrison, president and chief executive officer of Northwestern Memorial HealthCare, has been elected to its board of directors, effective January 1, 2015. Additionally, the board appointed Lord Charles Powell, a non-party member of the House of Lords and former private secretary and adviser on foreign affairs and defense to former Prime Minister Margaret Thatcher, to serve as an advisory director to the board, also effective January 1, 2015.
