ON Semiconductor Corporation designs, manufactures, and markets semiconductor components for electronic systems and products worldwide. It operates in three segments: Application Products Group, Standard Products Group, and System Solutions Group. The Application Products Group segment provides analog, mixed-signal, and advanced logic application specific integrated circuit and application specific standard product solutions; and offers solutions for voltage and current options, as well as foundry and manufacturing services, including integrated passive devices technology, integrated circuit (IC) design, packaging, and silicon technology offerings. The Standard Products Group segment provides discrete and integrated semiconductor products that perform application functions, such as power switching, signal conditioning, circuit protection, signal amplification, and voltage reference; and develops lower capacitance protection and integrated signal conditioning products to support data transmission rates, micro packages, and switching and rectification technologies. The System Solutions Group segment supplies analog and mixed signal ICs, microcontrollers, digital signal processing, analog and digital tuners, intelligent power modules, and memory and discrete semiconductors. The company serves end-user markets, including automotive, communications, computing, consumer electronics, medical, industrial, smart grid, and military/aerospace industries for various applications in the automotive electronics, smartphones, media tablets, wearable electronics, computers, servers, industrial building and home automation systems, consumer white goods, LED lighting, power supplies, networking and telecom equipment, medical diagnostics, imaging and hearing health, and sensor networks. It also serves original equipment manufacturers, distributors, and electronic manufacturing service providers. The company was founded in 1999 and is headquartered in Phoenix, Arizona.

ON Semiconductor Enters into Licensing/Development Agreement with ICs

ON Semiconductor has entered into a licensing/development agreement with ICs in order to bring application specific integrated circuits to market, which are resilient to radiation effects. According to a media release, radiation hardened by design ASICs created through this agreement will be based upon ON Semiconductor's ONC110 110 nanometer process for ASIC designs and production. The introduction of RHBD ASICs extends the company's military and aerospace offering that includes ITAR compliance, DMEA Trusted Supplier accreditation and DO-254 support. Radiation testing has exhibited strong single event upset and single event latch-up immunity performance with onset linear energy transfers in excess of 100 MeVcm2/mg for the ASICs and double-bit upset immunity of 40 MeVcm2/mg for the dual port SRAM. In addition, a novel RHBD flip-flop architecture has been introduced, referred to as Self Restoring Logic. The SRL flip flops have shown hardness resilience to single event effects at frequencies of up to 700 megahertz. Principal targets for these new RHBD ICs will be high reliability applications, such as space exploration, satellite communication and surveillance, avionics, unmanned aerial vehicles, commercial aircraft, nuclear energy, particle physics research and military equipment.

ON Semiconductor Corporation Appoints Paul A. Mascarenas as Board of Directors

ON Semiconductor Corporation announced that Paul A. Mascarenas has joined its Board of Directors. The Board also appointed Mr. Mascarenas to its Science and Technology Committee. Paul A. Mascarenas served as the Chief Technical Officer and Vice President of Research and Advanced Engineering at Ford Motor Co. from Jan. 1, 2011 to Sept. 30, 2014, where he oversaw Ford's worldwide research organization as well as the development and implementation of the company's technology strategy and plans. From 2007 to 2010, Mr. Mascarenas served as Ford's Vice President of Engineering, and from 2005 to 2007 he served as Vice President of North American Vehicle Programs.
