Opera Software ASA Signs on Licensing Agreement with Microsoft Corporation

Opera Software ASA has signed a licensing agreement with Microsoft Corporation. Under the terms of the agreement, Opera Mini will become the default web browser for Microsoft's existing feature phones and Asha phones portfolio. The licensing agreement applies to mobile phones based on the Series 30+, Series 40 and Asha software platforms. The agreement will enable Microsoft to provide continuity of service as it transit from Xpress Browser to Opera Mini.

Opera Software Reports Earnings Results for the Second Quarter Ended June 30, 2014; Provides Earnings Guidance for the Third Quarter and Full Year of 2014

Opera Software reported earnings results for the second quarter ended June 30, 2014. Revenue was USD 100.6 million in second quarter 2014 compared to USD 73.1 million in second quarter 2013, an increase of 38%. Compared to second quarter 2013, second quarter 2014 saw strong revenue growth from Mobile Publishers and Advertisers (Opera Publisher Partner Members), revenue growth from Desktop Consumers, Mobile Operators and Device OEMs and a decrease in revenue from Mobile Consumers (Owned and Operated Properties). EBITDA, excluding stock-based compensation expenses and one-time extraordinary costs, was USD 27.0 million compared with USD 21.7 million in second quarter 2013. EBITDA, excluding one-time extraordinary costs, was USD 24.9 million in second quarter 2014 compared with USD 20.7 million in second quarter 2013. EBIT, excluding one-time extraordinary costs, was USD 18.0 million in second quarter 2014 compared to USD 15.2 million in second quarter 2013. EBIT, including one-time extraordinary costs, was USD 16.1 million in second quarter 2014 compared to USD 15.2 million in second quarter 2013. Second quarter 2014 IFRS net income was USD 9.5 million compared to USD 6.1 million in second quarter 2013. Non-IFRS second quarter 2014 net income was USD 17.5 million compared to USD 15.1 million in second quarter 2013. EPS and fully diluted EPS were USD 0.071 and USD 0.069, respectively, in second quarter 2014, compared to USD 0.051 and USD 0.049, respectively, in second quarter 2013. Non-IFRS EPS and fully diluted non-IFRS EPS were USD 0.132 and USD 0.128, respectively, in second quarter 2014, compared to USD 0.125 and USD 0.122, respectively, in second quarter 2013. The company’s net cash flow from operating activities was USD 4.7 million in second quarter 2014 compared to USD 11.1 million in second quarter 2013. Cash flow from operating activities was impacted positively by strong profitability and negatively by changes in working capital. Capital expenditures, which are primarily related to Opera’s hosting operations, were USD 4.6 million in second quarter 2014 versus USD 1.0 million in second quarter 2013. The company provided earnings guidance for the third quarter and full year of 2014.
