Panasonic Corporation and Leica Camera AG Expand Partnership Agreement in the Digital Camera Sector

Panasonic Corporation and Leica Camera AG announced they have extended their partnership agreement and agreed to expand and strengthen their technological cooperation in the digital camera field. The agreement includes the extension of license agreement for use of Leica's trademark on Panasonic's digital camera products as well as expansion and strengthening of technological cooperation between the two companies. Based on this agreement, Panasonic will be able to commercialize digital camera products with Leica lenses over the next five years, from October 2014 to September 2019 while Leica will be able through the expansion and strengthening of technological cooperation to utilize Panasonic's digital technology in its own product development. The agreement will allow both companies to boost product competitiveness by combining Leica's optical technology and Panasonic's digital technology.

Panasonic Announces Latest Version of Toughbook CF-53 Semi-Rugged Notebook

Panasonic announced at the Automechanika the latest version of its Toughbook CF-53 Semi-rugged notebook with enhanced performance. The 4th incarnation of Panasonic's best-selling business all-rounder, the Toughbook CF-53 is powered by the latest fourth-generation Intel® CoreTM i5 vProTM processor delivering outstanding performance and up to 15 hours battery life. It uses the latest Windows 8.1 Pro Update 64-bit operating system or Windows 7 Professional (available through downgrade rights from Windows 8.1 Pro) and features a 14" diagonal anti-glare/reflection display with Intel® HD 4400 graphics for incredible performance, responsiveness and media capabilities. The device is available in three configurations: The Toughbook CF-53 Automotive Model with legacy ports including serial port and double PCMCIA slots and positioning to industry standards. The Toughbook CF-53 Touchscreen Model with outdoor viewable high brightness touchscreen and Circular Polarizer to minimize sunlight reflection and the Toughbook CF-53 Standard Model. The Intel® CoreTM i5-4310U vProTM Processor(3MB cache, 2.0GHz up to 3.0 GHz with Intel® Turbo Boost Technology) and Intel® HD 4400 graphics with DirectX 11 support is capable of running the most demanding office applications in the field. The CF-53 is designed to perform where field team needs it with the latest device offering a 15 hour battery life (up from 11 hours) and a rapid charge capability delivering 80% battery power in just one hour and 100% battery in 2 hours. Offered in black and silver, the new LUMIX G 14mm /F2.5 II ASPH. matches the GM series of LUMIX Digital Single Lens Mirrorless (DSLM) cameras - the new DMC-GM5 or DMC-GM1. The lens will be available at www.shop.panasonic.com and valued channel partners in mid November. The LUMIX G 14mm /F2.5 II ASPH. features a 14mm (35mm camera equivalent: 28mm) wide angle and F2.5 high speed with sharp, high contrast image rendering.
