Public Service Enterprise Group Inc. reported unaudited consolidated earnings results for the first quarter ended March 31, 2013. For the quarter, the company reported income from continuing operations and net income of $320 million or $0.63 per diluted share as compared to income from continuing operations and net income of $493 million or $0.97 per diluted share in the first quarter of 2012. Operating earnings were $433 million or $0.85 per diluted share compared to operating earnings for the first quarter of 2012 of $432 million or $0.85 per diluted share. Income from continuing operations before income taxes was $540 million compared to $705 million reported a year ago. Operating revenues were $2,786 million compared to $2,875 million reported a year ago. Rate of return on average common equity was 11.5% compared to 13.6% reported a year ago. Book value per common share was $21.64 compared to $21.00 as at March 31, 2012. Net cash provided by operating activities was $877 million compared to $1,088 million reported a year ago. The company delivered for shareholders in the first quarter of 2013, and remains on track to meet its objectives for full year operating earnings of $1,140 million to $1,270 million or $2.25 per share to $2.50 per share.
