The company holds an 88% interest in the Orca Quarry, a sand and gravel project, which covers an area of approximately 350 hectares of land located to the north east coast of Vancouver Island west of Port McNeill, British Columbia; and a 70% interest in the Eagle Rock Quarry project, a granite resource located on deep tidewater south of Port Alberni on Vancouver Island, British Columbia. It serves customers located in California and Hawaii for the production of concrete for building and construction purposes. The company has a strategic alliance with Cemex, Inc. for the development of terminals; and for the purchase and distribution of marine supplied construction aggregates, sand, gravel, and crushed rock on the west cost of the United States. Polaris Minerals Corporation was incorporated in 1999 and is headquartered in Vancouver, Canada.

Polaris Minerals Corp Reports Earnings Results for the Second Quarter and Six Months Ended June 30, 2014

Polaris Minerals Corp. reported earnings results for the second quarter and six months ended June 30, 2014. For the second quarter, the company reported sales of 1.02 million tons and revenue of $13.25 million in the quarter respectively representing an increase of 22% and 21% over the same quarter of last year. Revenue in the quarter benefited by a $0.55 per ton or 4% increase in average selling prices. Gross profit in the quarter was $129,000 compared with a gross loss of $503,000 in the second quarter of 2013. The net loss attributable to shareholders was $1.6 million or $0.02 per share in the quarter compared with a net loss of $3.5 million or $0.05 per share in the comparable 2013 quarter. Cash outflow from operations was $0.39 per ton in the quarter after incurring a one-off shipping dead-freight impact of $0.46 per ton. Adjusted LBITDA was $0.27 per ton, a gain after the $0.46 per ton freight impact. For the six months ended June 30, 2014, sales were 1.65 million tons, an increase of 3% over the comparative period and revenue was $21.8 million a 2% increase over last year. For the six months ended June 30, 2014, the gross loss was $184,000 compared with a gross loss of $1,092,000 in the prior year period. The net loss attributable to shareholders for the six months ended June 30, 2014 was $3.2 million or $0.04 loss per share compared with a net loss of $5.4 million or $0.09 loss per share in the first half of 2013.
