Potash Corporation of Saskatchewan Inc., together with its subsidiaries, produces and sells fertilizers and related industrial and feed products primarily in the United States and Canada. The company mines and produces potash, which is used as fertilizer. It also offers solid and liquid phosphate fertilizers; animal feed supplements; purified phosphoric acid, which is used in food products and industrial processes; hydrofluosilicic acid; and silicon tetrafluoride. In addition, the company produces nitrogen fertilizers and nitrogen feed, as well as industrial products, including ammonia, urea, nitrogen solutions, ammonium nitrate, and nitric acid. It holds the right to mine 773,812 acres of land in Saskatchewan; and 58,263 acres of land in New Brunswick in Canada. The company sells its fertilizers to retailers, dealers, cooperatives, distributors, and other fertilizer producers; industrial products primarily to chemical product manufacturers; and purified phosphoric acid directly to consumers of the product. Potash Corporation of Saskatchewan Inc. was founded in 1953 and is headquartered in Saskatoon, Canada.

Potash Corp. of Saskatchewan, Inc. reported unaudited consolidated earnings results for the first quarter ended March 31, 2013. For the quarter, sales were $2,100 million against $1,746 million a year ago. Operating income was $817 million against $685 million a year ago. Income before income taxes was $782 million against $651 million a year ago. Net income was $556 million or $0.63 per diluted share against $491 million or $0.56 per diluted share a year ago. Cash provided by operating activities was $738 million against $372 million a year ago. Additions to property, plant and equipment was $496 million against $476 million a year ago. EBITDA was $971 million against $813 million a year ago. For the second quarter of 2013, the company’s earnings expected to be in the range of $0.70 per share to $0.85 per share. For the full year of 2013, the company maintains net income guidance at $2.75 per share to $3.25 per share. For the quarter, potash production was 2,025,000 tonnes against 1,575,000 tonnes a year ago. Nitrogen production was 723,000 tonnes against 681,000 tonnes a year ago. Phosphate production was 499,000 tonnes against 486,000 tonnes a year ago.
