ppg industries inc (PPG) Key Developments

PPG Industries Inc. Launches DURANAR ADS Coatings for Architectural Metals

PPG Industries Inc. has launched DURANAR ADS (air-dried system) fluoropolymer coating, a newly-formulated product that surpasses the performance of the original Duranar ADS coating. The next-generation Duranar ADS coating, designed for touching up fluoropolymer finishes on architectural metals damaged during production or after field installation, is based on KYNAR ADS2 fluorinated copolymer resin by Arkema and PPG proprietary chemistry. It is available in a wide range of solid, metallic and pearlescent colors and in PPG's infrared-reflective (IR-reflective) pigment technology. Because of its single-component formulation, Duranar ADS coating has the flexibility to be applied by fingernail brush for small touch-ups at the end of a production line, or to be spray-applied. It is ideal for use on window frames, door frames, roofs and metal wall panels marred during fabrication or installation.

PPG Industries Opens Regional Headquarters for Architectural Coatings Business

PPG Industries marked the opening of a regional headquarters for its architectural coatings business in the U.S., Canada and Puerto Rico. The facility is located in Cranberry Township, Pennsylvania, approximately 20 miles north of PPG's global headquarters in Pittsburgh. The 118,000-square-foot facility will accommodate approximately 550 employees in various management, marketing, information technology, customer support and related service and administration positions. Nearly 400 employees currently work at the site, and PPG anticipates the facility will be close to full capacity by the end of 2015 as it continues to consolidate operations from multiple sites. The facility features an open floor plan with collaborative workspaces, an amphitheater for large-scale employee meetings and presentations, product showcase store, training facilities and areas to pilot retail displays.

PPG Introduces P190-6930 Performance Clearcoat

PPG Industries Inc. has launched P190-6930 Performance Clearcoat. The new 2.1 clearcoat is intended specifically for use with waterborne AQUABASE Plus basecoat by PPG. It is designed for high-production collision centers and provides excellent throughput and impressive gloss retention. P190-6930 features PPG's innovative resin technology engineered for waterborne basecoats, making it the appropriate solution for shops seeking a low-VOC production clear. Used with Aquabase Plus basecoat, a vital part of the NEXA AUTOCOLOR refinish system by PPG, P190-6930 delivers the high-quality results and efficient cycle-time performance progressive collision centers require. P190-6930 enhances throughput with quick air-dry and bake cycle times--4 hours and 25 minutes respectively--that result in superior finish hardness. With four reducer options, the clearcoat adapts to a wide range of operating temperature and humidity conditions. In addition, it can be buffed in less than one hour after cooldown if required. The result is excellent gloss retention and finish.
